I'll have to look later, but I think the suit in the back of A&AotMK has parts that are only 0.020" thick (gauntlets?). There is no way that I'm intentionally going into harms way wearing something that is only as thick as a feeler guage. But if you only have to look pretty, while others ar...

Re: Fighting with Injuries/conditions

About 6 months ago I broke my back (2 minor compression fractures and a broken tailbone) that incidently exacerbated a pre-existing condition. I have a seperation between 2 of my vertebrae in my upper back and will likely have to have a spinal fusion within the next year or so. Duke Eringlen Aldhel...

My daughter had it shortly after she was born because the intern 'bagged' her. It took a day or two to go away (can't remember, it was nearly 13yrs ago), but her breathing was VERY rapid, and VERY short. They allowed it to go away on its own (air in chest outside the lungs was reabsorbed). If it had...

One of required 'tools of the trade' for a messenger/herald was a spear, to defend himself from dogs, wild animals, and humans if need be. Take of the sharp tip, and it would probably be about the same length as a quarterstaff. I'd expect 6-7' would be plenty long. I really can't see the size you me...

I know someone in the US Military, if they're willing, could it be shipped to them, and have them send it on?

At 6"diameter, 4 pieces would yield about 4.5" on the arc, I think that would be plenty.

Yup, what I wear is bulky and unwieldy. I wear horsemans pauldrons instead of simple spaulders. The spaulders would be lighter and give me better movement, but I think the pauldrons look cooler =) My pauldrons are at least as large as yours, and I can touch either ear with the opposite hand reachin...

Re: Is there shame in 'medievalesque'?

bulky, unwieldy suits they wore. I lose pretty much every sca combat situation. I just cannot compete with the sport armor =) I don't see anything wrong with some fantasy elements, but not when they harm the function of the armour. Bulky, unweildy...That means they don't function as well as suits t...

I listened to a lecture by a visiting professor, and what he said was that when you had serious problems in a unit, that to fix the "problems" they might select by lot (no ranks were apparently immune) a random number of legionaires. Since it was random, it might be a long term veteran, or...
