Gentlemen, These armors are FAKES! Ironically, that's why they look so good... Glue takes about 24hrs to dry to maximum strength, so adding glue to get it to last through the event isn't going to work so well.

Tape works as soon as you put it on.

If it is as a bad as you say, then get a new stick.

There is also the hyoid bone to be concerned about. If it is bruised, or broken, you can die. If it is broken, it can be a sign of murder by strangulation.

The 9' limit always annoys me... Are they made in exactly 9' lengths, or are they made in 10 or 12 lengths? If 10, they should have made the limit 10'+3" or +4" for the required padding thickness, rather than saying ~buy a 10' pipe, cut to 9' for sale, then have the customer put the cap on...

Over a decade ago we use to have a women in her 20s fight in a transparent lorica. She wore frilly underwear underneath it. For a lot of guys it was distracting and she used that to her advantage in the fight.

A round stick of rattan would hit on a single point, it is round. I sometimes add a few coats of Elmer's Glue and water (decreasing the water each successive coat) to try and seal it a little. There are very few bits of tooled leather armor for humans extant. There are more formed bits of barding around.

Tooled leather exists in abundance, cut designs, as well as tooled (uncut) and molded. Boxes, pounches, scabbards, etc...
