Why not drill holes around the whole cuff and sewn them in? Because a number of extant gauntlets have a strip of leather riveted in place (occasionally hidden in the brass-work around the cuff) and then the glove sewn to that. It is a very effective solution. Sewing directly to the steel MIGHT have...

If you are going to use a glue, which would make it a bit more tear resistant, I'd use some sort of contact cement.

You can look at Matweb for more specific information, as well. It is pretty common. As far as I'm concerned, for most of our purposes, there is little difference in strength between most of the 300 series of SS.

I looked in a couple books last night, and did find a few simple coifs, c1490-1520. One was a laborer(1490 woodcut), and the other was attending Francois I (1520, presumably a courtier of some sort). I also looked in The Tudor Tailor, and they include it in their patterns, and the authors tend to be...

The Tudor era barber-surgeon wore a similar cap, I think the ones found on the MaryRose were of velvet. Perhaps the velvet was for dress, and a white linen one for working conditions. I don't think I'd wear my velvet if some dirty, stinky sailor might spurt on me. http://www.maryrose.org/lcity/barbe...

One of the Italian princes of the 15thC era said that if you took the numbers reported killed by the winning side, and then the numbers reported by the losing side, averaged them, then deducted 1/3, you'd probably be a bit closer to the real number of casualties. I'll check The Condottieri and see w...

I think that you were entirely correct in all three of those options.

People can think that they are entirely correct in their actions or observations, and still be in error. Unintentional error is not a big deal.

No.

Tassets belong on later BP's but not on the globose. It rides higher, and mounted atop a mail shirt.

There were later BPs that were rather globose, but that isn't what you are asking about.

If you want to know who makes morions, your topic should be Who makes morions? instead of who makes???

That way, you find out who makes them instead of wasting the time of lots of people who don't know who makes them.

This sounds like some kind of sleeveless and collarless vest, what they are calling a "pettycoat", is worn underneath the doublet. The doublet has eyelets in the sleeves for pointing your vambrace and rerebrace. Petti=little/small Made like a 'coat', but smaller since it has no sleeves.
