You will find some hand axes and maces with a tab/hook coming from the head that are only a couple inches long that would slip onto a ring like you describe quite well.

The pourpoint and doublet are the same thing, they are two words for the same item of clothing, yet it is a widely held reenactment myth that in England it meant a sleeveless doublet as opposed to one with sleeves. So I would say that it is important to note the etymology or use of certain medieval...

The few times I've used period patterns, I must admit not being happy with the garments as I am when I draft myself but a) Tasha has one of the best reputations in the SCA and b) your pictures demonstrated the end result is very good. I suspect I'll end up ordering and playing with this one - and p...

I think that someone may have seen a similar picture back in the SCA's beginnings (and I think I've seen that image), and decided to use it for several reasons. They didn't have the skill to make a real buckle of their own. It seemed more 'medieval' than what could be found in most stores. There was...

I've used electric planers for swords, which work best on shaved rattan. The husk has a lot of silica in it, will throw sparks when it is sanded, and will wear away the blades on a planer. I've also used a draw knife, and was able to plane the rattan to 1.25"+/-0.04" or so (maybe 0.004&quo...

There used to be a motorcycle helmet poster that said "If you have a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet."

The same goes for your hands.

It doesn't matter whether you are talking guns, or armor, buy the best QUALITY piece you can afford. Price is not the same as quality.
