The pourpoint and doublet are the same thing, they are two words for the same item of clothing, yet it is a widely held reenactment myth that in England it meant a sleeveless doublet as opposed to one with sleeves. So I would say that it is important to note the etymology or use of certain medieval...

The few times I've used period patterns, I must admit not being happy with the garments as I am when I draft myself but a) Tasha has one of the best reputations in the SCA and b) your pictures demonstrated the end result is very good. I suspect I'll end up ordering and playing with this one - and p...

I think that someone may have seen a similar picture back in the SCA's beginnings (and I think I've seen that image), and decided to use it for several reasons. They didn't have the skill to make a real buckle of their own. It seemed more 'medieval' than what could be found in most stores. There was...

The Grand Company of Adventurers (Catalans) had a fortress attacked when the men were away, and the women (as well as the few men left behind) manned the defenses.

I think that 'no' comes from proto-Indo-European. I seem to remember hearing my Persian aunt say 'no' when she is speaking in Farsi.

Middle name "Dandelion", I bet she had hippy parents. (We had a girl here for awhile with the first name "Cricket") I've been wanting a Charles de Blois pourpoint for a number of years, and had made three previous attempts, I think. One by myself, and twice (maybe three times?) w...

They are still at the estate sale the ends in about an hour does anyone hear want them the sticker price was 35 plus shipping. These seam to be hard to find when you want them. If you let go of your polearm, and it doesn't fall to the ground since it is trapped under their arm, they are going to look...bad. Why would they look bad? You might try using some of the acrylic right around the hole you've punched in the leather. I've had leather soak up sweat on a fabric covered CoP I used to wear, and eat away the aluminum. I had to trim off about an inch of the aluminum before re-edging it with leather, and the same rivets you are...
