Re: Head trauma data
I never said "knight". You did. The knight was in reference to your mention of one in your PM. My apologize for the confusion. It seems everyone has a knight behaving badly story. I hope you can understand why this disturbs me. I think there are examples of individuals in any group being a problem....

The whole would-you-have-a-legal-case idea, while interesting, isn't really what I was asking. To restate the question, given this new technology, what could be done to make the SCA game safer? -One idea would be to have fighters wear checklights—or even a small sample for data-gathering purposes. ...

Re: How do you cut little rivets???
Oh, that's different.
You can either drill them off, or sand/grind them off.

I usually drill off the butt, that way if I screw up, damage isn't visible.

Re: Great helm + bascinet question
I did some google searching on this last night but pictures of the inside of a greathelm specifically being worn over a bascinet are not easy to find. It would be rather difficult to depict that, just as it would be difficult to depict the liner under the old army steel pots. You would only see the...

3 piece backs did exist in the late 15th/early 16th? Here's a few interesting bits: http://www.bible-history.com/ibh/Weapons+and+Warfare/Body+Armor/Front+And+Back+View+Of+Dutch+Armor+Of+15th+Century The Galiot's back (1527) is 3 piece, center and two sides. Get some Viking? Norse? brand bits. They are treated at -300F, and are very impressive. They outlast pretty much every bit I've tried, including cobalt. I think I drilled 30+ holes in some 18g stainless at one sitting.

There is occasionally some "hidden intellectual knowledge" but it is often wrapped up with the hammering skills, making it more efficiently. Glendour has told me on occasion that if som...
