I don't think it is worth tons, lots of small pieces are inexpensive at Sotheby's and Christy's auctions, but I don't think I'd really care what the dollar amount actually is if it is real.

Will it be hit with anything? How careful will you be in packing/storing it? I think that the armor Ugo&Patrick made for Shroud was 5051 T-0 in 0.050", and it work hardened, but that was for a movie, and probably doesn't get used very often. What is your budget? Something could be made of a differen...

If you look closely, you will notice that all the riveting is oriented together. This presents more of a "sheet of steel" effect rather than looking like there are holes. They used various sizes of wire, and rings, depending on exactly what they wanted it to do. St Louis Art Museum http://www.slam.o...

It isn't necessarily "keeping you safe from yourself" as the idiot walking by you that decides he wants to pull your sword out. I'm not terribly worried about that at an SCA event, but a renfair? Sure. In general, it is just dumb.

It doesn't say it wasn't done, it shows that it was- just that it wasn't terribly effective on its own, on preventing someone intent on doing harm from actually harming someone.

Do you only want to make straight lines? Go with the slitting shear.
It will do outside curves, but not very efficiently.

If light cavalry stick around to slug it out with heavy cavalry, just trading blows- they deserve to die.

It depends on the alloy.
Some are sold annealed, some are sold "full hard", and anywhere in between. 410 SS is commonly called spring stainless.

I've had several thoughts, not all of them worthwhile. ;) Tapered lasts, so as they shrink they can be moved down a little. Could the panels be formed after the glue hardening, and then stitched? The lasts I use for drinking jacks aren't particularly smooth, say as I would burnish a bowl on the lathe. They do have a slight draft even in the flattest portion of the body. They get a good rub with paraffin before they are beaten into the wet, sewn body of the piece. Once they dry, I have to be...
