Re: Burgonet in silk w/embroidery and pearls

It isn't in that book, but I found it on the AAF. Check here, on p4.

User Album: Carl Koppeschaar - Livrustkammaren

It isn't exactly the same, but it might be a picture of the opposite side. Check PMs.

It IS next to the gold pinked doublet in your collection link.

It is in his Stockholm album, that might help. I think I've seen it, I'll try to remember to look in some books when I'm home.

It can take extra hands, but a good way to keep something cool while grinding is to use an air nozzle on it during the process.

Re: Awesome Example of "period" fantasy armour!

This isn't fantasy armor: Its period correct 15th century "psuedo correct SCAdianism" on Roman/Greek antiquity armor. Basically, styling armor with peturges, brass maille, brigandines to simulate musculata and lots of animal/human motifs. This is also my shameless goal. I want to be an reenactor, r...

While it isn't the primary scope of this video, he says that for a company to become a success (big business, not small shop) there need to be 3 people with special skills. One to make the good or service, one to market it, and one to take care of the books. On the scale of a small armory it isn't r...

Re: Can anyone identify the objects in this painting?

Thanks for the information. I thought it might have been a pitcher of some sort, but I wasn't sure. Baron Alcyoneus, I hadn't considered the glass beaker being a lamp, but in the closer view it looks like the white part might be a cloth cap tied on. During the medieval period, did candle based ligh...

Re: Can anyone identify the objects in this painting?

I think that the item on the mantle is an oil lamp. The white cap on the top might be the ceramic wick holder. You'll notice that while the chandelier and candle holder above the mantle have spikes for candles, none of them have candles in them.

I'd call them Romanesque rather than Gothic. The Met's online catalog is pretty worthless for searching. "Medieval ivory angel" gets me crap like a painting from 1756, among 9418 other results.

I wouldn't cut anything of, you still need to keep it in place, so washers and nuts on it. Bushings are available at hardware stores like Ace.
