Re: Ductile Iron dishing forms FS! One 8" Left!
I use the 8" for rondels the shallow curve gives me a good dish. I also use it for shoulders, breastplates helms ect. I tend to use the 6" for knees and elbows. Didnt you already buy a dish?

Re: Steel bastard sword for sale!
Nope the extension is about 1" up from the pommel inside the handle. I find that holds up best. I prefer full tang for obvious reasons but when I have to weld onto the tang I make sure I get a good solid connection and its not in a high stress area. I would never put a weld close to the blade as it ...

Re: Steel bastard sword for sale!
I usually weld a flat plate matched to the profile of the tang that transitions into a threaded bar or I just peen over the extension. That way you do not rely on just a welded rat tail, rather you have a larger join further up in the handle.

Re: Thoughts on C&T Helm
I have built a few perf plate helms for cut and thrust, I have found that dishing the perf plate is much different than dishing a standard sheet of metal. First it does not expand it shrinks the holes do not get bigger they collapse on themselves when I used a standard dish and ball stake. I will tr...

So I got around to finishing these up made from .040 1050 spring steel, blackened munitions finish size lg. These were a prototype so the finish and hole spacing is slightly off but for someone with a 15th century persona these could be a great deal! I would like 150 for the set pics here https://ww...

I hear that bro. I just have been feeling that I as a hobbiest armourer have a harder time satisfying orders then the "pros". By that I dont mean that I make a worse product, more that when an issue arises I do not have the capital on hand in most cases to issue an immediate refund so the customer h...

Re: Spun tops as helmet blanks?
I have worked with spun domes quit a bit and I find that the process of spinning can be tricky to do right and will thin the metal out in places. The other issue you may have depending on the material is that spinning really work hardens the metal so if you are using something like 410 you may have ...
