Re: failing miserably to articulate a knee - any help?
When I am working out a new pattern I use a pair of locking calipers to pin the lame to the cop once the steel mock up is done. It should be tight enough to keep it in place but loose enough to be able to move the lame through its arch. It helps to really figure out where your holes should be withou...

Im not a fan of the fore-quillion and as it s just as common to see this hilt style with as without it I left it out on mine, but I will probably make several variants of this hilt.

Re: 4X4 sheet of 6061, got cheap....What to make?
I made all of my gear out of 6061 .090 except my new couters. I love my plackart it is TANK! you can do anything you want with the material but take your time fluting or creasing it. I have a medial ridge on my plackart that I hammered in with a tack hammer. Take a look at the roll on this gorget, t...

The red corazinna is the example from from the metropolitan museum of art, it was pieced together by the the founder and first curator of the arms and armour department Bashford Dean. It is not necessarily a historically accurate armour, Dean was by education and ichthyologist and assumed that assem...

Re: did they ever make.....
Actually, the Helmschmieds did make fully enclosed breeches. I had the good fortune to examine one made for a child's armour (that sounds bad) and it is a work of engineering. Henry the eight had a pseudo enclosed breech on one of his tourney armours but to the best of my knowledge it was not fully ...

Re: WTB Massive Turned Sent-stopper pommel
I cut some of my pommels on a lathe but usually only for proto-types to be cast later. Considering the amount of machining involved the pommel you are talking about might cost more then it is worth to you. If I had to cut that pommel my set up and machining time would run about 4 hours plus shop ove...
