WTB Paul Chen Thrusting/Throwing spear head
Hello, I am looking for a paul chen thrusting spear head. I can find reproductions but they are all the niello alloy and are not suitable for actual use. So I'm looking for the good old steel ones. It doesnt need the fancy collar I'm just looking for the style. Even if its not Paul Chen but similar ...

Piercing drift sounds to work well. I am notoriously deadly and a failure when it comes to making things so could somebody give me fairly detailed and easy directions as to what exactly I should do. I ask this because everytime I have attempted something without great instructions it generally ends ...

Punching riveted rings.
Searching has turned up nothing and I have finally gotten around to making my riveted rings. My current hurdle to get over is the punching of the rings. Ardor has some unique punched drilled drifted tool that is probably beyond my ability to cobbled together and I'm going for round punch instead of ...

Can also be found at home depot. Rebar tie wire. Normally found back by the construction materials, fencing and (you guessed it) rebar. Cheap and great. I just started using it myself for my rings and it works really well.
As to the gauge question I have no idea.

There are plenty of patterns for spaulders on here as well as most legs protection. m m Maile is incredibly time consuming and can often get pricey quickly. Never dealt with welded but as everyone else says its going to be a pain. Mail is not enough to fight in as you need rigid protection around yo...

I think I know what you are talking about. Are the plates laced together with chain? Big round front plate plus all the sides etc etc. Its more commonly seen as russian armor though it occasionally makes an appearance as turkish or mamluke. Not totally sure of the posting rules for images so here ya...

I must be very fortunate I get my mild steel for 25 cents a pound. They are just the drops and tend to have a small amount of rust but getting 60lbs of steel for 15 dollars is very nice. If you want gauges go for 14-18 depending on what you are wanting to do. Gauntlets 14-16 (depending how hard they...

Nylon strapping (What most duffle/packpack straps are made of) works decently well. The stuff is dirt cheap if you find it right (I pay 25 cents a yard) and is fairly sturdy if you double layer it even. Just be sure to use washers properly on it. Or barring that seatbelt or truck straps can also wor...

As has been said there are patterns on here already, those should work fairly well. My best advice for you is to go and borrow a pair of gauntlets for a bit. Fight in them for a night so you know what they need to be protecting and how and then ask to borrow the gauntlets (hopefully from a good frie...

The vambrace elbow cop issue was just what I brought up because it was very late and I couldnt remember the word Cuisse. another option would be to get a very basic spun top or low point pascinet for cheap and add leather for a neck drape, visor and decorative embellishments. That is probably your best option. Get a cheap helm then leather neck drape and sew washers on to it. It sounds odd but looks very cool. Google...

Search your area metal is surprisingly cheap ($0.25-$1 a pound). and that armor requires little more than basic cutting.

Lamellar/Scale question:size,type, and gauge
I'm in the process of building my own armor and will soon have acquired the tools to do so. With access to a fair amount of tools in a apartment complex's maintenance shop I am making lamellar for myself and scale for my roommate. We have the tools and the time to do it plus its still alot cheaper t...

I've been looking around recently and found that most shops charge $.50-.80 a lb for sheet metal (not stainless) but that alot of places you can back 'scrap' metal for cheaper. I picked up some 'scraps' of steel 16 and 13g for $.25 a lb. Aircraft aluminum and stainless will be a little pricier. Some...

Plastic vambrace
So I have been slowly trying to replace my loaner armor with my own and am working mainly with plastic. I have found that the stuff does not retain its shape very well and was wondering if there is a secret to it. In particular my vambrace. I am a smaller guy so I need a good curve to the armor and ...
