I use a razor blade, trace out the shape, and cut by sliding the blade under the leather and pulled it towards me. Wear gloves and work slow. It does work believe it or not. However if I had a jigsaw or something I'd be using that. The razor blade works but you cant cut intricate shapes and the blad...

I am on the side that the Laurel should catch those with peer like qualities that are mastering the historical aspect of their given field. If you want a peerage for live weapons, who picks them? How are we picking them? What other service are they doing other than the skill they are excelling at. ...

What your asking for has no place in a Medieval society. Not everybody can be a peer or it muddies the waters, makes them worth less. There are plenty of awards out there for all the activities to be recognised for their work/skill/knowledge but a peerage is too much IMO. Thor. If its really about ...

The aforementioned HRH Edward was knighted in '05. I'm still not sure of his exact age, but I'll place him over 50 when he was elevated and over 55 when he won his first crown, maybe even closer to 60. Graedwyn, what you got? How do you all feel about a 4th peerage?
Saw this idea being kicked around a few places. basically the Order of the (undecided) would encompass all combat not related to heavy weapons. So the 4th peerage would have archery, throwing weapons, cut and thrust, historical (people who do German longsword demos, sword and buckler, staff fighting...

Scaled finger gauntlets.
The kind with steel wrist/back of the hand but the fingers are made of overlapping scale plates.

Scimitar/Shamsheer etc shaped hilts/pommels/blades.
Specifically looking for a curved saber/scimitar for Cut and Thrust and the hilts/pommels for Heavy. Starting to slowly move into an Indian persona and even though I know they uses straight blades, front curving and all manner of strange and cool things a curved sword is archetypal and fun. Help a b...

Do you yell/shout during combat?
Not sure if its against the rules or something eclectic but I don't think I've ever seen people yelling except during long ress battles when you start getting primal. Plenty of cutting manuals stress giving a yell as you impact as does alot of weightlifting/workout manuals. What do you all think? -P...

Re: Being the bully? x-post
Hello, I'm after some advice on a situation that has come to my attention recently. It has been said to me that I am intimidating to people when I fight and that I scare the newbies and some people do not want to fight heavy because I scare them. I don't think that I am any scarier or hit harder th...

Depends though. A perfectly balanced weapon is usually done for a deadlier thrust (better wrist mechanics) a blade used for cutting/hacking should be tip heavy since all your force is going into the blades edge. I'd say you'd want your great sword to be tip heavy since most of the techniques involve...

Inspiring/useful books to read
Hi all, just thought we could all share some books on fighting / philosophy / both we all found to be very useful. So far the best I've read has been Musashi's The Five Rings. Its just an amazing book. he does not try and be overly complex, he says it like it is and tells you exactly how and why he ...

Is this illegal in every kingdom? Kinda robs you from doing a lot of techniques.
