I find myself with two weeks off in the middle of nursing school. Thus, only lack of funds prevents me from attending.

Is it just me, or do these arguments usually break down along "persona period" lines? While I haven't gone back to review every post, I do come away with the impression that it's usually "early-period" types who argue loudest about "being inclusive" and not turning away...

Thank ya kindly, Adam; I treasure that compliment coming as it does from someone with a kit as nice as yours. It's a real chore just to keep my suit's dull finish free of rust as it is. I'm happy with how it's held up over the years.

I've really only had two kits in my nigh-on two decades in the SCA. I've owned and worn full plate since I was 16 years old. Let's see if I can compete with Murdock in volume of photos... This was my first kit, in the mid-to-late '90s--the well-known 'knight on the toilet' suit: http://www.stormpage...

Imago Splendoris Regem Hominorum In Gloria Non Obscura Ante Ruptus Mundi.

"An image of the splendor of the Kings of Men in Glory undimmed before the Breaking of the World."

I took it from one of the Appendices of the Return of the King. It satisfies my hubris.

I think you should have them covered in velvet and adorned with lots of brass rivets, like those of Greyson Brown. Maybe add a few extra brass enhancements, too...

I believe there is more than one front-opening mail shirt in Churburg. Additionally, there is one (CH S4) that appears to fasten with the front flaps deeply overlapping, almost in a 'double-breasted' fashion.

Plenty of 14th/15th century mail haubergeons are split down the entire front of the garment and fasten with ties. I think it would be fine for you to do that with your mail shirt.

Re: Best body armour?

I am all about the breast and back plate. If it is made right, really good flex, and ultimate protection. I didn't expect to find myself in agreement with Phelan but he's totally correct here. There is no torso defense better than a perfectly-fitted solid steel plate cuirass. I suspect that most pe...
