I was taught and am in complete accord with "Don't break your toys." As to data, I am sure ours is flawed. Just in my own case, I have a torn ACL, a broken arm, a chipped tooth, a broken nose and 12 finger breaks that I have suffered in this game that wouldn't be in the data because I wou...

Please be nice to the volunteers (even if you feel the need to flee treatment) . I broke my wrist at a Queen's Champion and fought two more rounds. I didn't know it was broken, and one of my "special forces" friends tortured me between rounds doing some kind of painful treatment. "It'...

This can be at the per event, per fighting day, or per battle level. In my experience, when there is not sharing sustained and vehemet social conflict arises.

This is worth calling attention to - here we have a society wide standard (knee fighting) the perceptions of which are influenced by local conditions (indoor fighting surfaces due to enviromental conditions). I draw attention to this, because if you pay attention to other inter-kingdom issues this p...

DON'T BREAK YOUR TOYS

Greetings Fellow Archivists Inspired by Count Jonathan's excellent HIT HARD TAKE LIGHT thread, I would unearth another phrase from the sca's past/present which I found to be very useful, and indeed, pivotal in the sca's success. Feel free to share your thoughts - either in support or why you think i...

I shall start another thread that we may explore the nuances of my statement, which I agree is not as 'qualified' as it should be (or perhaps even rephrased) which may be to the benefit of a handful among us.

Thanks for the link. 2 limbs as a kill favors me against most sca fighters because I am particularly adept at leg strikes with s/b. So, in general, such a convention would allow me to advance further with less work - at least for a time. Roger that about crown - although I think it interesting to fi...

Don't break your toys went and in glove with hit hard take light. Again, advice meant for advanced participants. It means, simply, that you can unload on a 300 lb dreadnaught class duke in a categorically different manner than a 150 lb newbie to cause the same amount of bruising. Ask the physics/med...

What say you to 2 limbs count as a kill, wounds not acted out for our great weapons play? We can test it at practice but it seems to me it would improve the aesthetic of the play in that great weapons from knees or armed is particularly ridiculous. Just a thought however to improve the fun. While I ...

This statement was 'party line' during my Caiden days in the 80s and early 90s. It was intended for high end aspirants who, fighting on the aggressive edge, usually couldn't go wrong calling anything that hit with any authority. On points of chivalry you will find many fighters who seek 'safe harbor...

I tried a 26" round once but it was too easy. My most successful squire (so far) was 6' 2" and I made him fight with a 24" round for a long while. He really wanted a little larger shield because he kept getting beat up no matter how hard he tried - and campaigned for a 30" oval, ...

I wrote this for a polite squire and thought I would share since the the words ring right for me. Fascinating Spock. :D

I could fill in a good part of the rest of the known world in symmetry. I see more 'mountainous' shapes as aggregates are influenced by nearby curves.

I shouldn't have said 'so what was wrong with that?' way back when. My bad.
