First, congratulations! One book that may be useful is <u>The Knights of the Crown: The Monarchical Orders of Knighthood in Later Medieval Europe 1325-1520</u>, by D'A.J.D. Boulton. I could take a quick look to answer specific questions. Ursula based her Laurel elevation ceremony on a fifteenth cent...

Hi there! Your technique looks good, but the proportions are a bit off. The beads on the long axis are too close to the edge, which is making the inner diamond too large and the triangular shapes at the end too small. Your brooch appears to be a bit too long in the long axis as well. If you take a f...

The MoL Dress Accessories books has some cool charts regarding copper alloys (triangle diagrams with copper, zinc, and tin in the corners). I don't know about torcs, but medieval "bronze" was hardly a pure mixture of copper and tin... ;)

I've always found it interesting that they kept Arabic inscriptions on their coinage for almost 100 years after the conquest. Especially the mixed Latin/Arabic inscriptions later in the century.

One easy way would be to use a spring-loaded force gauge and plot the force vs distance profile of the string as you pull it back to the "cocked" position. Then just do a definite integral on this function (find the area under the curve) to determine the energy applied.
