The marshal who bounced it was being absurd and should be re-educated by the KEM.

Rule #5 of the Rules of the List says you can appeal to the Sovereign. I would totally have done that.

Gotcha. I know that Order of the Rose is a patent level award (and thus a peerage), but is a Duke/Count/Viscount considered a peerage in the traditional sense of the word?

Angus, Excellent point. But there are a few subtle difference between the example of a shaft arrow and an elbow cop. The shaft arrow is up to *somebody else* to keep safe. The elbow cop is on the wearer. If there is a severe equipment failure with the arrow, death (albeit remote) can happen. If ther...

It seems more reasonable to me to change the equipement that brings about the most safety...which adding mesh does more to make a fighter safe then changing the ammo type for an archer. In a perfect world where finances are not an issue, your point is reasonable and could be debated. Unfortunately,...

It sounds as if you like the idea of the game more than the game itself. Pain is just a natural repercussion of fighting. Most SCA fighters I know wear their bruises as badges of honor. There are other aspects of the SCA that are fun that do not involve fighting. You enjoy research and craft, so may...

This way, we could start a thread for each armourer/vendor/member and people can post their reviews there. It might make it easier to find good and problem vendors.
