Got my shoes in. Wore the viking toggle shoes this past weekend. I would have liked the toggles to be mounted a bit farther back so they could be tightened up more. I will probably end up punching new holes and moving them back. Other than that, I really liked them. If I were ordering more, and I p...

The wraps at Viking U Like are awesome, but are pricey (if I remember, with the hooks, they were $200+).

Historic Enterprises are nice for the price ($20).

WoodNWoven makes hand woven wraps for $50-80.

What kind of cleats are those? And do you or anyone else have any recommendations for types of cleats. Soccer shoes would seem to have the best profile but tend to have such large cleats. It's not for me. It would be for new fighters who want an inexpensive gorget. They would want them strapped. Also, it would be easiest if it said, "small: 13-15, med: 15-17, etc..."

Just a suggestion.

Jestyr, I agree with you about most people being honest. In my tennis example by "players missing calls" I meant they made mistakes, and that happens all the time, especially in such instances when one player is making calls on 115 mile per hour serves, and just can't see them well enough...

Active Marshaling

I went to a different group's event yesterday, and witnessed something that I found very troubling. All of the marshal's were calling blows for the fighters. Now, in fairness, it was a different game (not SCA), so while this was bothering me, I was able to deal. I did find it weird that the rules st...

A few things: 1) You can go to the event and support it without fighting. I had shoulder surgery a few months ago and have continued to go to events. It sucks to see people out there and not fight, but there are other aspects that are fun. 2) If you need to ask, you probably know the answer. 3) You ...

I don't really care, as I don't have kids, but except for the fit/shipping issue, doing the swap online would seem to be a better choice (in my opinion). The chemical change in the leather happens at 167 F. It needs to get to that temp clear through, but there's no set time as leather is not uniform. More like a bit under 22" diameter.

Diameter is 2 times pi times the radius. Add 1/2" for padding.

Doing the math in reverse...

25 / 6.28 = 3.98

3.98 - 0.5 = 3.48

3.48 x 6.28 = 21.86

I agree it looks much better than rope and portable holes. :-)

One relatively important and often overlooked piece is the end blocks. These are the little notches that finish the ends of the fence. Without them, the whole fence doesn't have the same structural integrity.

We used them for the Pas we held and they looked great. Using a contrasting color for the uprights makes it really "pop". One suggestion for the barrier is to create a second row of "fence" (so it would be two 2x4s instead of one). It will add more stability, which we found we ne...
