I think Westland was working on one. Their prices have been very aggressive, but they just came onto the scene and there has not been much on their quality. As a new fighter, are you sure you want to go with just a kidney belt? Either way, make sure you put your body armour UNDER the gambeson or tun...

I think he was referring to the helm Cisco is wearing.

I say this because I thought, when I saw it, "that looks like a windrose helm, ask them to do it". :-)

Re: Odd rule (SCA) that I've never heard of.

6. Swords shall have a hand guard , such as a basket hilt, quillions, or equivalent. I would argue that a guantlet *is* a "hand guard". Using a wrist strap/lanyard/trigger (required) would affix said hand guard to the sword, making it legal. And besides, if you got a jerk marshal, you can...

Although I have major issues with 1and1 and will not use them. For a basic site, GoDaddy is decent and their tech support is surprisingly helpful, which is good if you aren't tech saavy.

In a sport where every participant must declare themselves defeated, shame is a useful tool. Sometimes it is necessary to give an opponent a moment to consider their disgrace. I don't want someone to feel disgrace. If I am in armour and don't feel a blow is good, I don't want someone to try and mak...

Dunno, the 3 inch head is a big step from 2 inch. That's why I'm hoping they move to 2 inch heads on fiberglass around here. The KEM was testing the 2" tip at Gulf Wars. I didn't hear of anyone having an issue with it hitting *that* much harder. I think the only problem you'll have is the &quo...

Neat solution.

Would the same concept would work for a fiberglass spear, just with a bigger tip?

I was afraid of using my way-overpriced oven to heat the abs, so I used a heat gun and a grill. The grill was actually very easy. Like Isabella, I also form to my body, but I found thick sweat pants to be adequate. Also, for simple curves, just curving it by hand (not on a body part) is easy enough.

It is not for you (or any of us) to question the Crown in a public forum. IMHO, the very act of posting this is *not* respecting the Monarch. The SCA is not a democracy and should be thought of as such.

Another consideration... Just what sort of "accuracy" are you interested in ? Just the visual appearance ? Or do you want to try and get a sense of what it would have been like to have been a Norman in 960 AD (or whomever, whenever) ? If you're interested in the latter, then part of getti...

Period tents: Choices in Accuracy

I have decided to get a canvas tent. I know all of the various major manufacturers, etc., but what I am trying to decide is on a style. My persona is an early Norman. The most accurate tent for me would be a wedge tent. The problem with that is that the most accurate tent for me would be a wedge ten...

The best solution is to cover everything. You have a mishmash of different style that it will be difficult to coordinate without getting a bunch of new stuff. Since the point of this was so you didn't have to spend much money, covering wins in a landslide. I would point you to this article for cover...
