I think duck cloth would be really uncomfortable. Agreed. Duck cloth is very hot in Florida. Linen is the way to go. For a pattern, I bought a pair of pajamas that fit me well from walmart and cut them up. If you don't want to sew, I'd recommend the linen pants from Adric here on the archive. What ...

Kyle,

He also makes a bottle style that is a little more accurate for earlier periods. I'll bring mine to fighter practice on Thursday if you'd like to see it.

I had a not so great transaction with Armstreet. I had ordered a number of things via an ebay auction, and when I expressed disappointment with 1 or 2 of the items, they pretty much told me to piss off. It was for some belts, shoes and pouches. Shipping was also very slow (2 months or so for suppose...

What about early 11th century? 1020-1040 or so (just before the conquest).

My understanding is that the Bliauts and cyclas weren't until the 12th century.

Coat for an 11th Century Norman?

Gulf Wars is rapidly approaching and the weather is expected to be cold. Based on that, I started doing some research as to a coat that would be appropriate for an 11th century Norman. I can't find much. The closest I can find is a bathrobe style coat that was found at Hedeby, where (supposedly) sim...

What Audax has done is exactly the same as Otto. She has taken money and not delivered. I take that back, at least Otto has responded and delivered *some* product (albeit very sporadically). Her behavior is no better than Otto or Brand or any of the other list of armourers that have screwed people.

They both should be pretty similar to the Cliff. Neither has an aggressive last, so they should be pretty comfy. As far as size, get the smallest that "make sense". So if you wear an 11.5-13, and most of them are 12 or 13, get the 11.5. Climbing shoes need to be small. You don't want any g...

You shouldn't need "baggy" pants to hide hidden legs if they are well fitted. How have other early-period personas figured this one out? I haven't seen many poleyns in my kingdom, that adequately covered the knee, that didn't also mess with the lines of a fitted pair of trews/chausses. He...

Alvar, you look great for first kit. Better than many people who have been fighting for years. Have you considered using a heater as a shield? You seem to be putting together a 14th century style harness and the round shield doesn't seem to fit.
