I understand your frustration, but I don't know how fair your assessment of the situation is. This is how I am reading the order of things: 1. You ordered something you were not happy with. 2. Merchant told you to send them back and he'll replace/fix/refund 3. You didn't send them back for a while 4...

Re: This may be a silly question, but.........

I'd be wary of making a cup hilt from leather, hardened or otherwise I have a 14g stainless basket that is really warped. And while I bear some of that responsibility by blocking with my cuphilt more often than I should, the reality is that people block with their cuphilts a lot in many of the style...

I would buy off-the-shelf armour from him IF AND ONLY IF he ever makes good on all of his back orders. Same goes true for Otto. All the way back to the Armor Store? Every single person that has ever ordered from him at any point under any name or pretense. If he does that, in my eyes he is a good a...

Re: Will the BoTN change the SCA:s HF game?

First you need a sword to swordfight. Standing belly to belly ass wraping each other with bamboo isn't sword fighting. Still the SCA stuff looks fun. I tried it once at a practice. Was cool. Johannes, This saddens me as I know you are a good guy, but this statement comes across very derogatory and ...

I had started this auction wanting to know how much people were willing to pay for my work. Re: Ways to deal with non period camps around in the SCA

I was looking at Midwest Tents pretty hard a few months ago because their prices are really amazing. Some of my friends bought a tent from them, and had an abnormally leaky Gulf War. Sounds like they need additional water proofing. As long as you're prepared to take care of that they may still be a...

Re: Group Review w/pics of my 14th Cen Midlife crisis...

While there are some excellent pieces in there and individually they all look good, for me they do not come together very well as a cohesive kit. I think the reason is that there is a fairly large gap in time between some of the pieces. As Randall point out, the tassets seem to make the breastplate ...

Need support? Don't spend money on something that looks stupid. Spend it on orthotics that fit in your period shoes. This is not rocket science. ;) Ignoring the condescending tone to your post, I DO wear custom orthotics in my turn shoes... for my soft kit. Furthermore, cleats are doing you NO favo...

Re: shoe covers - anyone ever try these?

Period "correct" footwear is widely available from so many source these days, why stick a suede foreskin on your foot? Many people, myself included, greatly prefer to wear modern shoes when they fight because they offer much more support. With my soft kit, I wear turn shoes, but I have bad feet and...

Antonis, For your first time in armour, you have the makings of a nice kit. Ignoring the issues you are having below the waist, my biggest suggestion would be to get an aventail ASAP. There are some weird things happening between your upper chest, shoulders and helm that I can't place my finger on e...
