Re: looking for my shield style
Dolan: I spoke with Petra yesterday and will likely be coming down to Southkeep in the near future. I seem to be about your size, so I would be happy to work with you on some concepts specific to shorter, more mobile fighters. As you are from Trimaris the Wankel shield was very popular there a few c...

Re: looking for my shield style
I will echo what many here have stated that your persona, or more accurately your armour, should dictate your shield choice. Almost all shields have inherent benefits and weaknesses, and different fighting styles work better with different shield types. For example, the larger the shield, the more d...

In this specific situation, as a customer, I would have no problem with a non-refundable deposit upfront for "pre-order" items. Perhaps in the future this is how you need to approach such transactions. Informed up front, that way you are covered for at least partial cost if they Cancel on the back ...

Regardless of when the new return policy made it's way onto the website, if a retailer has a very specific, loyal customer base and has the same return policy for years, and then offers a pre-sale on a new, very expensive item, don't you think it is the appropriate and responsible thing to do to inf...

Try and ignore that you personally know each person in the story. Pretend it is John Smith and Walmart. John Smith orders product from Walmart on a pre-order sale for $2,768. Walmart previously did not have a policy to charge a re-stocking fee of 25%. They did not announce this change when asking fo...

Here are two photos. Neither are great, but it sort of gives you an idea. I'm in the green tunic. It is a weird installation, so I understand the question. Basically, the chin-cup portion is threaded through the D rings, and then it comes back and is buckled under the chin. You will have a portion o...

Neat! I really like the axe, shield and helm.
If I might suggest, the arms seem a bit to "normal". They don't seem to match the overall feel of the other pieces.

Your picture sparked an interesting conversation with friends as we see more clothing/soft gear on the field with a helm vers armor on the field. Pretty typical, actually. 1) Armor dispersed the impact enough to take away the "sting", but you still got a pressure bruise. 2) Armor bite 3) You missed a shot. Happens to EVERYONE. Anybody who says it never happened to them is deluded, a liar, or doesn't fight. Don't sweat it. If your sparring pa...

Re: Benefit auction for Sir Guy's sword: Fender electric gui
I have an old Fender Squire ('83). If it is anything like mine, it is a neat little guitar. It sort of has a stratocaster body with a telecaster neck, so you get a little bit of the twangy sound from a tele, with the more "normal" sound of a strat. It's neat.
It is a great starter electric guitar.

I wear hand woven from Wood-N-Woven with my soft kit.

The horse leg wraps are fine, I suppose, but for me, I'd rather use accurate materials.

It depends on how you do it. A lot of it depends on your attitude, what you are wearing it with, local tradition, and if the red portion is noticeably predominant . For example if you have spent hundreds of dollars on materials for a particular outfit and a predominantly red colored belt is called ...

Re: shield boss material, Leather?
I agree with Brennainn on this. I am a marshal, and while on paper a hardened leather boss would be legal, I think it is a monumentally poor idea. That said, with a well made boss, I don't think it is needed to wear gauntlets under it. A half-gauntlet certainly, but not a full gauntlet. In my opinio...

I am simply trying to offer a different viewpoint that will increase everyone's fun AND increase the SCA.

Jestyr, If that were true then the SCA would be at its largest numbers today than it ever has been. The opposite, though, is what's true. We look better than we ever have before but our numbers continue to go down. There are many factors that go into this but I am positive that the cost to play for...

I think the point that many of us have is that a better looking SCA will attract more people. Further, it has been proven many times that money is not really the difference maker. Effor...
