Re: Interested in your opinions... recruitment poster prefer
In regard to the target audience not being comic book shops, I respectfully disagree. I think that is exactly our target demographic. That said, Max and I have already discussed going after more athletic demographics such as MMA. It is also a good fit. The downside of that group is that we need a he...

Re: Interested in your opinions... recruitment poster prefer
"Don't" is perhaps not the best word to start with. How about "You've rolled the dice, now live the adventure!" I think this is an excellent suggestion. It avoids the negative connotations, makes it more of a natural next step, just the continuation of what you were doing.. In g...

Re: Wax for seals
Between seals and Brazilian waxing, I was reminded of this joke... A vacationing penguin is driving through Arizona when he notices that the oil-pressure light is on. He gets out to look and sees oil dripping out of the motor. He drives to the nearest town and stops at the first gas station. After ...

Re: Interested in your opinions... recruitment poster prefer
It was not an omission to "hide the SCA", but rather that the brand SCA has minimal inherent value to the group we are targeting. The SCA has never done a particularly good job of advertising itself, so the name offers little benefit to us now. Good marketing is oftentimes different from w...

Re: Interested in your opinions... recruitment poster prefer
Hi Max, I like them both. The first one will connect with the younger gaming crowd better, but if you are planning to put these up in comic/game shops, I could see it rubbing the store owner the wrong way. While you actually are competing for the recruits time with the things that the shop sells, t...

No, and that is one contridiction I find disingenuous. I agree. Given the overall availability of metal options for those two items, I am disappointed that the plastic choices are still allowed. It has been argued that cuphilts themselves are not accurate for many (most) cultures and time periods i...

Awesome and thanks. I wanted to mention your Pas weapons were superb as well. Bjorn made those. He did a stellar job, but I don't think he ever wants to do it again! But, while I have an emotional attachment to the one's Bjorn made, Aidan's weapons are nicer. He really does a great job. Hope to see...

JvR, Aidan (aidanhroarsson on the AA) lives in Darkwater and has been making some really awesome weapons lately. I've seen a lot of his stuff and it is really top notch by SCA standards. JvR,
We have loaner gauntlets in the barn that are pretty decent, and I have an extra set that I need to strap and pad.
I'll be at practice this week, so prepare to get hit.

P.S. Dietrich: Subadai is in Gainesville. And yes, both he and Taka are excellent polearm fighters.

I must say that while I disagree with Grimbah about the multitude of options of sub $100 helms, I am mildly disappointed at your offering for $250. I've admired Shamrock's helms for years, and Jackie deserves the respect he is given, but for another $25, Windrose has a round norman conical that seem...
