Re: Want to buy... Shield Basket & 14th century half guantle
Heres a set of shaped demis I just made, the cuff is more 16th c with the step border but It can be done with a roll instead for earlier armor. They are articulated but could be done in 2 pieces if someone wanted. If anyone is interested I can have a set built within 2-3 weeks.

Re: Pit Bull's Acron stake.
Hey Hal No worries man, trial an error is how things get done sometimes, I didnt say the stake did not work either, I dont have one shaped like that, and I think It will work great for all sorts of raising, gadlings, Ulna bumps, metacarpals, couters, sabatons, elbow cops, and other stuff. Im totally...

Re: Pit Bull's Acron stake.
Hi Hal, I got the stake today and it looks nice. Ty for the ballstake too! The acorn stake is well built but looks to be too pointy to use as an exact form. I consider this my fault for not telling you I was going to use it for elbow cops in the beginning. Im not going to send it back though, becaus...

Hi Jeff, I was alarmed at the speed and the power of the hammer blows you closed that roll with in the video, As you did it I was thinking,,,, that roll is gonna be lumpy! But it turned out great nice work, I can close em fast but not with hammer blows that hard. Nice work on the vid and the armor, ...

Nice and TY, that is without a doubt my favorite hammer, the head has really subtle shapes to it that really work good for alot of things, even peening rivets sometimes.

Re: Greathelm progress
Good advise here so far I think, One thing I would suggest is that you dont pre drill any more holes than you need to assemble the helm, MARK all your holes, drill a few to assemble, then drill them all going through both plates at once, Do the top cap next as mentioned, and FINISH riveting all rive...

Re: Elbows from a welded cone
I actually had this one in mind here, in the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It's sorta typical of a lot of the really quick SCA arms you see around, which seem to work OK but are totally lacking in any of the typical shaping you see in earlier periods. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i182/azommin/...

Re: Pit Bull's Acron stake.
Looks good Hal thank you, I should have told you I would use it mainly for elbows at the beginning, It looks like it will work great for them. Its not quite the right shape to just slap one on there and tap it out but Ill be able to move it around and make it work. I may ask you to make another one ...

Hi, Hey Gruber you mean you used like a raising hammer like this on the flare? Post a pic if you get time. I had thought that was what they were talking about but just not sure.

Hi, Most metal shops will sell you the scrap pieces they have for a good price. I used to buy from all of em around me until I found a small shop near me that makes good deals for cash.

Hi and thank you guys, its always good to get praise, I have to admit though it helps me out the most when people point out things that are not correct. My new trick is to put bright paper behind the pieces so I can see the profiles alot better,
PS I just noticed the way I did the fans may not be for the 14th c....... Would that style make them from a later century?

Arms -14th Century-
Hi guys, Ive been refining the way I make 14th C arms for a while, Each set I make a few improvements, This set Im getting the angle on the cuffs to be right, Im working to get the shaping to be subtle instead of like Popeye, Also im shaping the Rebraces instead of straight tubes, Again trying to be...
