Well hey now Hal, me and your muse had a wee talk. And we more or less came to the same conclusion
. But at least yours still talks to you. Mine is not very happy with me right not. And Steam punk does sell. If you find the right sucker
Btw, thanks!

Re: Gloving
Fantastic! That helps a TON! For the first couple that I'm gunna be working on will be from old leather jackets. Kinda junky, but I'd rather go the free route for my trial runs than screw up some rather expensive leather from the git go. I should have something new, maybe some pictures, by friday!

Gloving
I was wondering if any of you have made your own gloves from scrap leather. And if you could point my in a good direction for such a craft to keep me busy till it warms up a bit? I found this, but I was looking for a bit more http://www.glove.org/myfirstgloves.php

Hey Hal, not to derail this thread too much but is there any way we could see how a pair of completed gothic knees stand up to your .45c instead of just a single piece? Just curious is all...

Re: Engraving Help
I would love to start doing knives with simple wire inlays and basic designs, and slowly work my way up and up until I'm confident enough to do a helm with intricate inlays and celtic knots and sort of tell a story, but like I said, very slowly. Hal, I know it's an art but we all must learn somehow ...

Engraving Help
I'm looking to try my hand at engraving, so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advise on which gravers to get and if there were any tutiorials floating around. I was thinking of also doing simple wire inlays. I found this site from a previous thread, but theyre not all too helpful as ...

Re: Cutting Curly Designs into Metal?
I agree with Mac. Doing that to save from filing would give you a melted look, like something unfinished, and if you have any fine points or delicate detail, it would likewise be ruined. Sometimes there is no shortcut at all that can be taken.

Re: Cutting Curly Designs into Metal?
While this may be true, I don't think that you can achieve the same look with a laser that you can with a file. You can get an equal cut, even a more uniform one, but it will look too perfect, to even and the human eye would be able to tell the difference, at least a trained eye would be able to. IMHO

Re: Removing stains from blade
Go to home depo, they have a polishing kit that attaches to a drill. It takes a wee bit longer and a bit more elbow grease, but it is a lot cheaper than a new grinder!!

Re: help with a gothic Spalder/rearbrace, with a twist
I would def use the tape idea. Tape it up, mock off all of your marks while on your arm, peel it off and then refine after it it flattened. You will have to cut it to flatten it.

I just finished my Drafting final so I figured I would go on AA and see what's new, and I wept at the beauty! Fantastic work Ugo! And chance we could see the under chin more closely, open, closed, and a half n' half? And I cant wait to see it fully finished! Bravo!!
