I got the wierdest bit of inspiration the other day...

Ok so I saw this kid walking past me the other day and he had a visor around his neck. To me it looked like a gorget, so would or wouldn't using one of those be a very good way to measure and pattern after or am I just being crazy?

I've tried both. I personally like the hard articulation better, but that's just because leather can be chopped... I usually just go for the non-articulated bp. it looks odd when it is just free hanging, but they all do. the real test is to see it on a head. then you will be able to really judge it.

I burn them out with a torch, doesn't really effect the temper that much if at all, now if you do it the way you do with ax heads and put them in a fire then yeah it wopuld greatly effect the temper...

what is the purpose of this if any? It may help.... barring that I once made an almost complete suit that was riveted into a leather long coat, using a *modified* hat that was lined with steel, the only thing I was missing was gaunts and a face guard... less that one min...

get a pillow case and throw them all in it and then put some abrasives in there and rub it all around or throw it into your drier for a bit

If I were going to do eyebrows on it, I would raise a lighter sheet and make then on that and then rivet it onto the piece onto the assembly, but that's just to give the detail more depth and if it gets smashed hard enough a replacement would be easy to make as opposed trying to fix it on the nasal....
