Re: what is the right way to hold your hammer?
Whichever is most comfortable. Try modifying the handles. Make them more ergo dynamic. Remember that handles are made to be a good approximation for most tasks, not to fit you hand and how you hold it.

Small question not meant to derail the thread, after you tin the heads, how do you peen over the rivets? Does that mess up the tinning?

It's great that it's bench mounted, but I don't really do any work that requires a break. Sorry, Otto.

Adding onto what Smilingotter said, you may even be able to find the work already done for you. OR use the pep file to create the object out of thin sheet steel for yourself.
@ Smilingotter, you're right, a LOT of Ironman as well as 501st armor are done using pep files.

I'm probably going to stick to wd-40 for my mainstay, but if I ever put things into long term storage, I'm defiantly going to be hunting for some fluid film.

Re: Is something like this possible?
Depending on how crafty you feel, my recommendation would be to make it yourself from plastic. Use a heat gun (cheap ones can be found at harbor freight) to mold the pieces to the shape you want, you can achieve a much broader range of colors, it would be light, inexpensive compared to steel, and m...

Chris, all of mine have been controlled via solar panel. I would hate to switch to another style. Never had them fail, and it only costs about $50.00 for one

Re: Is there a video I can watch on crafting something simpl
Thicker steel is much more forgiving to errant hammer blows. It may take a bit longer to get a rough shape, but you will end up with something usable and not have to jump over the moon to get it finished.

I also have not seen anything like it before I firmly believe in asking why I couldn't do something, way before I ask if it's a dumb idea. It's a fun way to stretch...

If you can get several of these cast in a suitable material, maybe in 2 or 3 different stages, you can really pump these things out, and fast.
