For bending up to 12" square-stock I've found a MAPP torch to be most effective at heating a small area quickly and then getting on with the rest of the project.

never tried to bend anything that thick :shock:

I believe Thomas said to dish it cold not hot on the pipe fitting

proper solid rivets are better than the hollow pop types.

they are not dificult to get or to use, you just need practice.

there are many great armourers on here, I will never be one as I use and am happy with other skills.

one here whose work I often look out for is pitbull, he can armour a squirrel, a dog, a horse and probably a lot more as well as working on more historic stuff :lol:

have just got a lot of very thin titanium sheet 0.5mm thick ( about 0.05" at a guess ) was going to list it on ebay and other places but though I would ask here first if it had any armouring use ( my guess is though that it may be too thin ) the sheets are 710mm by 510mm ( 28" by 20" ...

depends on how heavy you are working on the stakes ( or the horn )
normally I would recommend using coach screws to fix it down to a stump.

yes, you keep using it till the media wears away and keep adding more to maintain the level you want.
I have a very small one, holds about 2 gallons.
I also use an old cement mixer with the paddles removed and some bars welded inside instead, that has sand and gravel in it

here is how I make a usefull anvil from scrap first, the main part is from a type of plough http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/hodgesaargh/Image004-2.jpg next this is cut down as the back and middle are too long, it is then welded back together and I add a stake holder ( to take my 20mm stakes )...
