and now a few serious questions for the metal bashers here ( and that includes those in other countries that it would cost a fortune to ship to): as well as the monster balls about 16" diameter there will be smaller ones, all hard and polished and very round like 6, 8, 10 or 12" which size...

Aw hell, suspend it with a cable run through a pulley overhead & run to a capstan inch, for the worlds largest dishing hammer can do a lot bigger than that, I know where there is a 24" diameter hollow steel ball that I could fill with lead for dishing or maybe use the end from a LPG tanker...

allowing for making a crate to hold it I would expect the weight to be about 500 kg ( making a box from metal that can be handled by a fork lift ) measuring about 500mm by 500mm by 600mm tall, cost of metal crate about 40 uk pounds or 60 USD will see what prices I can get when I get some spare time ...

Don't weld it to anything, just use a section of pipe as a grommet as stated above I will sit it on a section of pipe, on the other end of the pipe a flange will be welded on to add stability. the estimated weight is 462 kg, not sure of what that is in Lbs but it will be close to 1000 I do regularl...

I don't know, I'd be really leery of having anything weighing half a ton suspended off the ground. I don't even like putting parts of my body under the car when it's secured on jack stands. I'm pretty sure there are plasma cutters that'll do 8", not to mention regular band saws. It would be to...

Bravo on the biggest balls.
You win the tool game.

As a fellow tool maker... I concede.
Perhaps I should toss my welders in the creek.
I know when I am beat.

I have been asked a few times for spring steel by people here and at UK events and am considering stocking it. Problem is I need to buy big bits of it ( like 36 foot long sheets, not sure of width ) I would like to know how much interest there would be in this and what gauges and sizes of it would b...

from what little I know it is more likley to be too hard. yes but we brawl in steel zintec is steel. £64 for half a sheet is way over the top. I will look into costs of sending some though the smaller the pieces the less it will cost and sending to the north is a lot cheaper as royal mail consider that here and not overseas. it may be only worthwhile for...
