Re: FS - 2.5" Steel Balls
lots of steels are magnetic inc some stainless steels, HSS is magnetic, silver steel and ground flat stock too.
these are probably some kind of tool steel and will be very useful to the buyers.
and they can be welded onto things if you are careful

Re: Gondorian infantry helmet replica
just one question what is a floor? I think mine was last seen in roman times ( OTOH I can stand at my bench and reach out in any direction at random and find something to make a new tool from ) Compared to mine, its practically a surgical ward.... That reminds me that I need to sweep again... ...

Re: Best way to shape railroad track
If I wanted a square hole in the top of one of the larger types of rail I would probably drill a hole first from the top of maybe 3/4" for a 1" square, then drill a larger hole from the bottom like maybe 1 1/4" and then cut a section of the web out and then get it really hot and use a drift that is ...

shot is probably cast iron so you need special ( and expensive ) rods to weld it but if you get some steel pipe a bit smaller you can stand the ball on top

you will need to use a nickle based cast iron rod with a stick welder to weld the shot puts, I have sources of balls here but am on the wrong continent for you, I also sell ball bearings up to 4" and plain steel balls up to 6" but shipping would be the problem. earlier this year there was a thread a...

Re: Want to progress a bit... in quality/appearance
dont know about over there but here I can get a 15kg ( thats near 40lbs ) reel of mig wire for about 15 uk pounds ( about $27 ), for the same price I can get 2 reels of flux cored that weigh about 1lb each. the reason penetration will drop is that for the same diameter wire you now have maybe 40% mo...

Re: junkyard tools, todays finds
dont know, but I dropped the one I polished on the concrete floor, the sharp edge hit it and took out a lump of concrete without marking the edge. years ago I used to work in a plastics factory that blow moulded bottles from tiny ones to about 10 uk gallons ( prob 15 us gallons ), on the end of the ...

I was only thinking of a small radius on the first and then see what customers think so I can make the next to their needs maybe, probably for the next day at the same event.
also it is easy to radius it more but harder to radius it less,

some of the gas bottle bottoms I have here are over 1/2" thick, had one once that was 1 1/2" thick and these are not just cold pressed mild steel like propane tanks are. as to high and low stakes you could adapt the differences between Hals stake holder and mine. for low stakes mine is set in the top so it is flush but for taller ones Hal's is on the surface going up meaning the step does not have to be so big. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150750473387?ssPageName=STRK:...

users are people with warped minds, you just need to find one that is inspired to do something using that stake
