I frequently use a grinder clamped in a vice, a bosch 4 1/2" with paralel sides and it is held firmly between the bottom of the vice and the underside of the jaws

I get inspired by others but make things from stuff I find in junkyards, if others can find the same good luck to them.
I dont like to copy things buy there are just so many ways to remove the outer covering from a feline.

at my place we have a sahindler 50kg air hammer that was bought new a few years ago
120lb 220 strokes per min and an 8" stroke.

not an authentic wax but hard, adhesive and tough.

I think babbitt would also cost a lot but cant find prices when I looked.
how about the alloy used for wheel balancing weights, it is harder than lead ( the clip on ones not the flat stick on ones ) and tyre fitters throw tham out by the bucketfull here.

looks like a lot of work goes into yours Fungi, it looks good but I think first I will try simple.

was thinking of having a go at one to hold maybe 2 uk gallons ( ours are bigger than yours ) about 9 litres maybe and was thinking of aiming for 16 to 18" diameter and 10 to 12" deep

I dont make armour but will be trading at both ILHF and TORM and maybe could point out a few of them to you.

I do have some very fine brass wire, about as thick as a human hair and slightly springy, have been trying to find a good use for it for about a year now with no luck
