I always use a jewelers saw, unless it's a scalloped edge or something, you can do that with a file.....
And everyone else seems to have covered all the other points I would have raised about the use of a jewelers saw....
Good job guys.

"Chasing down and killing a spearman is good, rushing across the bridge to engage the entire enemy troops is bad. This also refers to melee units. " True, but sometimes units get thrown at lines to force a reaction. THEY might not have a real plan, but the mop-up unit behind DOES, it's just waiting ...

Yup, I said it's a stupid choice. However, that still doesn't make it useless. I DO hear "GS is useless in melees" all the time. And I DO think it's hogwash. If your approach is lacking, the results will show this. One can say this about any form really.... Now, as for- "what better way to learn how...

"i am not very clear on your commentary. are you implying that you guys have tourneys that are single sword and shield only (ie no other weapons forms allowed)? " No..... Actually, back in Eisental, we had a tourney based event that was based on 3 man team melee's with only GW's allowed. It was far from unpopular, in fact, it was one of the bigger single weekend draws of the East! Some of you may have heard of it...it was called Landsknecht Musterung. Now, we DID hav...

A buddy of mine asked me to put my thoughts on melee greatsword down on paper a few years ago....he was training a bunch of new fighters and was collecting "primers" for the various weapons forms. I found a copy on my computer while going through some old folders..... Anyone care to comment? *******...

"I wonder if this ruling will also apply to Japanese armor constructed of plastic plates laced together." Well, while I may hate Japanese armor on the field, when done right, it looks semi-period. Black plastic is pretty much the only thing that kinda looks like laqquered armor.... And once you add ...

I gladly spend extra on square stock. Why not just include it in the price, and forgo round stock completely? The helm is the most visible piece of armor a fighter wears. For an item with as much longevity as an SCA helm (which will probably get passed down more than once....) it is no hardship to s...

"Yeah, a comb'll chew rattan, but rattan is expendible " Ditto what Hal said, I'm getting tired of the "ridges chew my rattan" crap. I'm with ya Waddy! I hate taking commisions to make armor. To say I am uncomfortable about taking $ up front is putting it lightly. IF you've got custom armor from me (that I didn't just GIVE away) you are a somewhat rare individual. I mostly used to do "runs" of things, pauldrons, elbows, etc. I'd ...
