I always use a jewelers saw, unless it's a scalloped edge or something, you can do that with a file.....
And everyone else seems to have covered all the other points I would have raised about the use of a jewelers saw....

Good job guys.

14g steel, and the padding was fine, both times.

No, I can say with certainty it wasn't the fault of the equipment.

I've had two concussions fighting in melee against Atlantian forces.

Once at Pennsic, and once at the "Numb and Number" Pointless War where the East fights Atlantia.

Thankfully the helm dented, different helm each time, so most of the force got taken off of the blow.

Now think about that.

I'd like to 3rd this request for a how-to on the saddle.
My boss has 5 Florida Cracker horses (descendents of Spanish stock brough into Florida a LONG time ago...) and he would like to have a saddle such as that to outfit one with.
I'd love to try and make a saddle such as this.....

Yup, I said it's a stupid choice. However, that still doesn't make it useless. I DO hear "GS is useless in melees" all the time. And I DO think it's hogwash. If your approach is lacking, the results will show this. One can say this about any form really.... Now, as for- "what better way to learn how...

Ha!
I'd LIKE to be able to do that though, the Landsknecht in me sees NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!

I was just pointing out that some period uses for the weapon are null and void in our combat.

Actually, back in Eisental, we had a tourney based event that was based on 3 man team melee's with only GW's allowed. It was far from unpopular, in fact, it was one of the bigger single weekend draws of the East! Some of you may have heard of it...it was called Landsknecht Musterung. Now, we DID hav...
