You may have to remove the thumb hinge plate and bring it in toward your hand some. Other than that, they are great for the price.

Seriously though? No one else?
Just a steep conical helm with plain sides and back is fine. We can mod it later.

WTB Korean Style SCA Helm
My lady wants to do a Korean kit and she needs a helm. She likes the way this type looks, and we can add the spiffy metal work later. She just needs a functional helm now. http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx277/oni_saken/helmet_100a.jpg I figure it could have plain cheek plates and a slat back, mu...

I have a By My Hand sword hilt. It is shaped and so is the rattan within the slats. I have to wrap something around it though to help keep the rattan in place. I will try friction tape and see how that goes. I won't use a trigger...used 'em and hated it. :s

Grip for One Handed Sword?
Right now, I have electric tape wrapped over cord on my singe hand sword. It will still slip out of my grip during some intense exchanges and I find myself gripping the handle way too hard as a result of trying to avoid this. Should I get some athletic grip tape or what?

Swete, were you actually urinating blood or are you exaggerating to make your point? If the former, than who let you fight in that gear, and why didn't you cease fighting until your armor was safe? Also, is this example an inherent case of the quality/safety of plastic over leather, or just leather...

Glue or water hardened leather can fill the same gaps nicely. Yes, it's still composing an anachronistic armour supplement to meet our rules. Yes, in the purist's pursuit it should still be disguised or covered (well... as pointed out above). It takes a little more effort. It takes more bank for ma...

I have a shirt of it and I love it, but I am saving for a riveted shirt to replace it. Mainly, I find its downside to be that it really does lack the look or 'pop' of more historically sized maille. If you have back or knee problems and cannot bear the weight of riveted maille, and your checkbook ca...

Re: leather breastplate
According to some books I have, early Celtic tribes living more to the south east of Europe sometimes wore lino thorax's. There are a couple of statuettes showing this. I will try to post pics.
But there is no evidence I can think of that indicate that 'Celts' wore breast plates of any kind.

I know that the illustration is German or at least a German version of the pic, via the text in the lower right hand side. But I know nothing else regarding its origin. I actually used to say that Ashcraft helms look like poo but were sturdy. While this is certainly the case for AB helms most of the time, their welds are kinda iffy. A friend of mine was having his helm dismantled and customized, and some of the inner welds were horrible. In fact, some of the welds ...

I know that one of the Lewis Chess piece knights has cheek guards, and it is from the 12th century. I realize that the set is likely representing the earlier warriors, and their armour reflects this.

Just got back into SCA fighting after 3 years off for competing in another sport. Helm is new this year from Knotwolf the rest is 10ish years old. Working on the belt next then considering new lam. Plume is missing from the helm since I generally only put it on for war or tournaments. https://lh3.g...
