Re: Prototype Plastic Basket Hilt
Swete can you give a few referance dementios or put your pattern on a 1" grid for the next photo. Yes. I was going to make another one today using a heat gun, as well as a smaller pattern, rounded bend-joints, and of black plastic. But it is raining cats and dogs.... :( When it is dryer outside, I ...

Re: Prototype Plastic Basket Hilt
I like the pattern! One suggestion though: I know this was a rough draft but on the next one it really needs a fillet in the corners where the flanges meet. It would increase the strength and help prevent stress fractures in those corners. If you were already planning on doing that well, disregard ...

I take no offense, Jestyr. :D I was lucky enough to get into the SCA when the looking good movement going on in my area and elsewhere (from what I know anyway), and I fully support said movement. Prototype Plastic Basket Hilt
I have been looking for patterns to make basket hilts from HDPE 55gal barrels for a while now, mainly to help out the new guys in the two shires I fight in. After trying to devise my own (and failing) and trying several other basket hilt patterns intended for metal, and having them fail as well, I w...

Does anyone have pictures or sketches of SCA-legal sugarloafs with bar grill visors? These are really nice woolen flannels (warm, especially if you wash them on a hot cycle to shrink them a bit): m . It's a period weave from a sheep with wool that's very similar to medieval breeds, in a number of good colors. They're also on sale at a really good price right now. I really like this...

It's under the rules for throwing weapons. Not only does the thrusting tip need to be 2", but so does the padding on the back end. 3. Thrusting tips shall be used on any tip that can be reasonably assumed to contact a fighter when the weapon is used or thrown. Tips shall be no less than 2 inch...
