Please, none of the "both" - This is a choose one of the two question. Come on guys. Off the fence now. Clearly "Both" is the ideal answer but not to this question. You have been asked to make a decision. Nobody is arguing that kicking butt and looking good doing it wouldn't be great. But that wasn...

Ive got a 6' fiberglass spear I use in melee a bit. ( it WAS a 9' til a Dog got a bit frustrated that his flat snap wasnt gettin around it , great pensic story actually, really funny) Ive used it in melee on bridges primarily with a shield... the 3" tip is a PITA but due to being fiberglass Ive yet ...

Nope, but I have seen people try it and fail to have much fun. Since SCA rules forbid most of the actual techniques (kicking, tripping, shield bashing and so on) used when days where days, spear and shield (IMHO) only works great against matched weapons and then only as a amusement/ a slightly wimp...

Re: Terry Jones' "The Crusades"
Seeing "Kingdom of Heaven" caused me to watch part of Terry Jones' "The Crusades" four-part series and therefore continue the love-hate relationship I have with this documentary: It's terribly funny, and it's about an era of history that I'm completely and totally fascinated by, but DAMN is there a...

welded mail. apart from using a wire feed or tig welder which would be a MAJOR PITA.. Id suggest a spot-tong welder... these are used in autobody work quite a lot. basically it has two copper covered pinchers that squeeze together and create a lotta heat in one point. welding light metal together.. ...

Valharic won Crown in the Midrealm in 2001 and was Midrealm king at Pennsic XXXI (2002). Wow. Two Atlantian tourneys in a row where he reached the finals. Since he lost a Crown final in the Midrealm, he's now one for four in finals. That's rough. - Patrick/Mael Patraic (rooting for him to win anoth...

Ive seen Duke Kynan here in the outlands use a two pointed 6' spear with a BIG shield really effectively... the back spike generally comes into play on ppl who charge in..... about the only effective way to fight him when hes using this form is to get within your sword range but not too close for a ...

sword grips (SCA)tool dip
Ive read and seen and made maces covered with spray on tool dip and they work really good at keeping the surface clean and stick to steel helms like velcro. I just got the tool dip in a can and a spray can of it and had plenty left over after redoing my mace so I got the idea to cover my sword grips...

you can also set it at an angle and weld from the halberd head and let it pool into the socket... using a high heat and wire feed ( a bit higher than you'd normally use on the socket guage) doing this with a few passes should get the two stuck together rather well... Id even suggest going with a hea...

I get you point yet I still say why does it have to be a helm to replace the typical mask when it could be a more lifelike or even a more suitable ballroom mask made to meet standard? I would think there would be more than enough armorers willing to make a ballroom looking fencing mask for a suitabl...

Ill grant you.. helms do add more to the field than typical fencing masks.. BUT.. a hand hammered supra realistic or comical actual mask would be more plausible than a helm and no other armor. really... consider that a heavy fighter spends on average 500 bucks for a decent suit of armor ( mid level ...

Ive found acrylics to start to fade a bit in time and get flakey.. You may want to stay on top of them by really paying attention to them with the neutral wax.. I had some tooled and painted vambraces with my device upon them that began to flake and crack on me after a while... I had used acrylic ho...
