Aventail WITHOUT a gorget ? is it legal?
the aventail does not rest on the neck. its of the " extra long " stainless steel knuut type and is attached to a bascinet. this question has come up a couple times the interpretation Ive heard widely is " OR EQUIVALENT " on the gorget useage quoted. then another marshal will com...

Re: I want to learn more about Polypropylene swords!
Years ago ( 98-00) time frame Sir Haroun here in the Outlands was using this exact stuff at practice as a test sword. ( giving full warning to what it was) His sword, if memory serves, was about 32-34 inches long and was hands down the hardest Ive ever been hit. on a helm it was enough to rattle you...

Ive got nothing but praise for Bohemonds boots myself. I have a custom pair 14th cent long riding boots Ive fought in since 1999. I wore them so much they streched.. he took them back and resized them and resoled them after the sixth year. for free.. and they still take a beating. now to get a pair ...

Id suggest running some stainless wire through the top rings then sewing the wire to the leather. looks better and makes it easier to repair. ( a 304 weld wire works great for this tig wire sectons come in 36 inches) I don't know if it looks better ? I am not sure what makes it easier to repair eit...

Id cut it in half.. turn one half 90 degrees to the other and weld it to match the small curve and the big one.. then polish it.. mount it on a stake and use it to flair heavy guage helm skirting. etc

even then you get into debates as to weather or not the " half inch entry" starts on the OUTSIDE of the grill or inside of a grill..
Id rather just fight than deal with trivial stuffs.

Id rather have that telling full legal edge for those moments when " it can ENTER a GRILL" debates pop up. even if its not period , carving fullers seems to be a better option in my mind. no matter how Ilook at a shaped stick its shape is pretty much lost on me when tape is applied

I cut mine to 32 inch total.. in future I think im going with 28" for my personal use the shorter length I think will be made up in how fast they respond to movment.
I plained them down to 1 1/4 wide though as well has a much shorter taper on the tip

Ive just made the one Ive used for my own scales. I use one thats 1 1/4 by 2" rounded. to cut I have an old butcher block and wet the 10-12 oz leather to make it hammer through easier. its not super sharp about 20g on the edge so I dont have to regrind it constantly. I litterally made it fomr s...

Ive been making "cookie cutters" for leather to make scales. it cuts the outside shape well enough, then you can punch or drill your holes ( drill works after hardening.)

I got some of baron eriks rattan and went to the lathe this weekend. about an hour each on the lathe and got finished swords. the process is super easy ( I used a drawknife on the blades while they where still in the lathe to center them) Ive got one still in the lathe thats an offset handle for a s...

if you want and cant find a welder locally you can send your thumbs to me and ill weld them up.
Id recommend asking around some of the local welding shops, most welders will tig two inches of weld without charge ( its about 15 mintues of work if the tig is set up)
