thigh shots can be potentually lethal.. Deep vein thrombosis from the bruising .. which can lead to Pulmonary embolism. that can kill you really fast. I know of three people who have gotten DVTs from fighting.. ( diagnosed anywho) im sure there are far more. its just not too much of an issue unless ...

much like gladiators having a dagger with a small strapped round shield.. its possible to block as well as stab with a dagger . IMO its within the rules so long as the dagger and shield are not meshed together. IE a peice of rattan mounted on a shield.

the time you will spend prepping that metal to actually make something from it you would already be done with what you intend to make.. IE spend the money and buy some "flat" scrap mild and make your time more use to
armoring.

I have a metal cutting upright bandsaw .. Ive found using 1/4 blades I can cut more metal on that one blade than I can on a beverly before replacing the blade or sharpening is needed. the plus side is the other list of things you CANT use a beverly for.. a bandsaw will generally do the job. plus it ...

IMO hardware ( IE crossguards ) do actually aid in breaking at the joint.. a 1 1/2 " section of metal on a flexible surface does sometimews create a bad spot.
