rivet a strap all the way around .. put rivets on both halves and a buckle on the end you want open.. then poke holes for the tongue on the buckle

the photo I was commenting on ( green looking vambrace/bracer thingy) have the seam running form the point of the elbow.. really nice until you put on elbow cops..... On that topic, my cops are going to be pointed on to the vambraces and the vambs will still be able to open, due to the way they are...

just me but those leather gaunts look better and would seem to provide better protection than an oven mitt with leather stuck on it.

we're fighting with patio furniture for weapons, lets not think we're realistic..

the hand at rest Ie neutral postion. thumb up.. pinky down... seams running on the meat not on the bone.. ( yea I picked your armor:D ) the green vambraces show the seam running on the bone at rest.. I was saying " bad idea" cause it means there is a seam on your elbow bone and gettin hit ...

it should run on the muscles with the arm at rest IE down the back of the hand and down from the center of the palm. basically there are two spots your gonna get nailed on arms and you dont want it to be a bare shot.. the top of the forawrm where the inset of the elbow folds and the back of the for...

mild helms should be 12g stainless 14g at a minimum. ( ive actually used 10g mild before for a helm top,) to avoid dents. its not the armorer its the guage of metal used. being negative over it when there are plenty stateside armorers who have used 14 mild and made dentable helms is kinda unnessessa...

I wouldnt run the joint down my forarm bone for sca combat. If you fight arm up that spots going to get wacked.

Id considered wearing these for sca combat and found out they where worn on the top of the arm not the back ( ie worn to atriculate inside the bend of the elbow ) with the gladius used as thrusting . protecting the back of the arm was apparantly not as much of a concern as protecting the front thats...

long ago I had the foolish idea to make a peascod breastplate.. it was 1/4 with laminated sides and a formed 2" by 2" for the center spine. .. it last about four shots.

which base metal for plating?

Ive began work on a gladiator helm ( patterning) and am about to begin forming. BUT I want to send it off after the repousse work/welding etc to get it bronzed. however I would like to use stainless due to it being lighter/stronger. but am unsure if its better to use mild to get a better plating.
