SCA helms tend to fit well on the bottom of the helm as they do the top. the reason is our st...

Ive never had any problem with this and painting the peice before riveting. shape the brass to the helm and dril it as your heating/ shaping it on the curve, use small bolts in place of rivets to take it off for buffing and painting then apply it on. Ive had helms that are 15 + years old last using ...

6061 t6 can be dished using some form of scratch control and a solid concrete floor.. . Ive used scraps of sole bend leather tossed in a jig saw pattern under the aluminum and a Uerthane mallet before.. draw a series of lines on the shield back so you can make it even and get to hammering.. it takes...

there where some minor issues from war, overall though it was a good time. the field battles made me somewhat dismayed. It seemed we had outnumbered the Artemisian/Caid side so heavily despite being told there was a less than 50+ difference in sides. I wasnt fond of driving 16 hours one way for my f...

Has anyone spoken to the current SEM about experimenting with some alternate rules? Naw, I like whinning impotently. It fills a need. Now if I only had some brie to go with the whine... Really, I'll e-mail the current SEM, but rarely does anyone in authority in the SCA ever e-mail me back. EDIT: I ...

Being a Knight, and at the moment, a Landed Baron, Im targeted quite a bit by archers. In my mind its a high complement to be shot at continually. It means the other side is worried ill be getting within my range and would rather take me out from a safe distance. It also adds a more period feel to t...

aluminum thickened shields
Here in the Outlands we use sca min requirements for shields. meaning " rounded edges thick enough to not cause substaintal damage to a sword" basically.. so since Mandrake had the centergrip bucklers I started making centergrip bigglers ... so far Ive got an oval 32x24 with 1/4 alum barst...
