Re: Red Scarf Rebel (1351-1368)

Hello, I have also been working on an early Ming persona so that I can eventually fight heavy rapier/cut and thrust in the sca using what I know of chinese jian fighting. I found this website awhile back. It is just pictures of people wearing Hanfu, but it is a good source for Ideas, and the picture...

Re: Paging Chris Gilman and those like him

Not sure what your persona is, but how about about a yurt? It would seem to fit your requirements, and shouldn't be a problem to make if you have a carpenter willing to help.

Off the top of my head, Cold Steel, Arms and Armor, and CASHanwei all have Jian for sale. CASHanwei has a nice selection of different types of chinese swords, including some for cutting. If you are looking for a serviceable practice/sparring sword you can check the martial arts supply sites. Superio...

Can't vouch for them as I haven't ordered from them yet, but http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/ has a wide selection of pretty much any fabric.

I'd welcome an example of glued laminated armour from any culture. I've been looking for a long time and doubt they ever existed. H.R. Robinson wrote about laminated paper armour in "Oriental Armour". It was used by the Chinese, and if I remember correctly made of up to 14 layers of paper...

This website posts around 2000 pictures, illustrations, and occasionally patterns of people in Hanfu from various time periods and styles. I'm using it to piece together my own Hanfu for an early Ming Dynasty sca persona. Unfortunately it's in Chinese but it's the best visual aid I've seen for maki...
