Re: Wanted: Helmet visor and falling buff

That is very nice, but a buff is throat and chin protection.

Also, the quality of the planishing on that helm vs your modern stuff is obvious. I'm glad I took the extra step of looking at the other stuff your site. Having such a nice helm for so many years has made me a bit spoiled.

While we are brainstorming in this direction, what do you guys think is the best way to add a slope to the tang hole?

Re: Wanted: Helmet visor and falling buff

I sent him an email to ask, but turnaround time is important to me (I don't have a second, spare helmet), and I'm not in a position to drive to his place for fittings as I did when it was originally made and I lived much closer.

The buff doesn't need to actually fall, but it would be nice if it was removable like the one on the left in this link

Wanted: Helmet visor and falling buff

I have a Harquebusier lobster pot helmet that I got it nearly twenty years ago. I love it but it is starting to give me problems. Between my weight changes over the decades (creating a space between the helmet and gorget) and a hack job I did on the brim, it needs a new visor. I know this isn't exac...

Re: My apology for before. Looking to start "warrior priest"

There are plenty of armorers that can make that, but if they are worth anything, they are going to make sure that you know everything that they think is wrong with that armor before you two start making anything. Once they are certain that you understand everything they think is wrong and are certai...

Here are the two relavant rules: 6. The striking surfaces of all weapons, including the tip, shall be wrapped in a manner that allows no rattan splinters to protrude. 11. Rattan shall not be treated in any way that will substantially reduce its flexibility (e.g., treated with wax, resin, fiberglass,...

Sorry, this has been bugging me since I first read it. Take a 2.5 inch diameter piece of rattan (because you just can't find 4...

As most of you know, I have a brisk business selling carved rattan wasters. I have never been satisfied with the crossguards on the market because most of them are designed to fit a 1.25" round rattan rod, often using a pipe that extends part way up the blade. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/362...
