Re: Looking inconspicuous
Back to the original question: 1) I would try to steer clear of hidden armor whenever you can. If you want arms to go with your 15th century helm and have a choice between 15th century arms and hidden arms, go with the 15th century arms. 2) Since you own a barbute, start out by finding out everythin...

As I understand it, the biggest problem you two have is that both of you can't go to fighter practice at the same time. What night is her night? Come up to the Flame fighter practice, bernie. Sir Vitus is one of several guys down around our height with good advice to give. There are also several larger/taller guys you can practice these techniques on.

Re: Near Museum Quality WMA/SCA Crossover Armor
Anyone who fits some riveted or even welded mail over appropriately constructed arming garments, wears minimal plate reinforcement over that to represent a late 12th or 13thC man at arms will do just fine. Its more than most high end fighters seem to wear, especially full mail chausses but its trai...

The maces are not very heavy, have a nice amount of flex and deliver a nice thump without a lot of mass. But they do bounce like a rubber ball - not a big deal if you are swinging through the target, but it can be disconcerting if you don't expect it, especially if you already have a messed up wris...

For those that didn't know, Sir Vitus was jabbed through the sole. Wrestling shoes provide excellent ankle support but have notoriously thin soles.

I have the exact same issue Aaron. Somebody stepped on my shaped, basket-hilted sword, the blade flexed, and the lag bolt in the pommel sheared off. That's why I'm glad I saved the taping fork that came with the Darkwood basket. I sent Scott at Darkwood an e-mail and he said that he sells the forks...

Lining a 17th c helm
How were early 17th century helmets lined? More specifically, how was this lining affixed to the helmet? I don't remember seeing lacing holes, as were found on earlier helms.
