Re: Sword & Company Review Needed

1) Wasters were invented to keep novices from chewing up your nice stuff (and each other). You are allowed to own both wooden wasters and steel and pull out whichever is appropriate at the time. Wasters will also allow you to do a few maneuvers that you wouldn't do with steel because the guy in fron...

I can see that being handy if you have a hard time making up your mind or you make a lot of strapped shields for other people. I, on the other hand, used the method recommended by his departed Grace, Duke Gyrth Oldcastle, and haven't felt the need to change in decades. FUNDAMENTALS OF OLDCASTLE SWOR...

They are the exact same length, but because of the pommel difference Vermillion's dagger was a bit more expensive than this one and balanced about a quarter-inch closer to the tip.

Re: Foxknife at Pennsic

While I was talking about one I carved, I'd love to see it anyway.

After taking so many pictures of swords lying on tables or logs, I prefer them shown in the hands of armored fighters, and prefer action shots over posed shots even more.

Re: Armoured surcoat patterns or examples?

The most common image I have seen is the one of the "sleeping" warrior you see sited in all of the early CoP pattern documentation. He's sitting down, elbow on his knee, chin in hand. You can see that he's wearing a surcoat of some kind as it is decorated, but you can also see the rivet heads. http...

:( Not that I want one but unique blades like that should always be built in pairs. Nothing is a truer test of a wariors skill then to match an opponent with identical weapons... especially with what constitutes dueling sabers. Re: SCA rattan rapier

It is very usable for normal sword and shield fighting. The blade is a 1.25" baton so is no better or worse than the batons used by 90% of the heavy fighters in the SCA. The primary differences are length and balance. Although it is well-balanced, at 43" long there is a lot of leverage to fight agai...

Foxknife at Pennsic

Could somebody with a camera at Pennsic be on the lookout for a Foxknife rattan waster being used at Pennsic? Hessen used to make all of his crossguards with round holes but all of his new stuff is oval. Windrose has both and has been pretty good about mentioning which ones are oval in the item description. Windrose sells hardware in a variety of materials. Hessen is only mild steel. Foxknife.com has a few ...

So you're comparing a premium machined pommel to our standard cast one in an "unbiased" review of a product you sell? Nice. Comparing implies that the two products are very similar. My point is that, despite appearances, they are not similar. Due to the massive weight difference, neither the Windro...
