Re: Wheel Pommel Review
That's the large windrose premium wheel pommel?... It is not. In all my dealings with Windrose, my only complaint is that none of their pictures contain anything to give the viewer a sense of scale. Nothing I have ordered from them has been the exact size I expected it to be with only the online pi...

Windrose and Hessen Wheel Pommels
A quick comparison between the Hessen Ironworks wheel pommel and the Windrose Armoury wheel pommel. Apologies to Windrose: my only sample is very used and scratched up. Material Hessen: mild steel Windrose: aluminum (but other materials available) Weight Hessen: 12.4 oz Windrose 5.3 oz Mounting Hess...

I have one sword that is 42" long, short enough that I can use it one-handed, and one that is 5' 3". I've never seen an advantage to having an extra-long two-handed sword.

Re: Buying Armour the Good ole fashioned way... layaway...
You may have meant it as a joke, but I work in sales and, for all its value as a purchasing tool, you would be surprised how many people turn up their noses at layaway because of its association with being poor/ghetto.

Re: Pennsic Colors?
Forgive my naivety, but I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Traditionally the two alliances at Pennsic are denoted by the color of the tape on their helmet. Red on one side (the Midrealm and their allies), blue on the other (the East and their allies). This year the Midrealm and t...

As I understand it, HH Perkins is great when they have what you ordered in stock. I've ordered from them twice and the first order was fine. The biggest problem with HH Perkins is that if they don't have what you ordered on hand, they substitute something else without notice, and do not appear to un...

Re: Buying Armour the Good ole fashioned way... layaway...
Layaway is just ghetto credit. Do you know anybody that charges 20% interest in layaway? or 1%? No ghetto about it. If you can't afford to buy something cash, layaway rocks. Even if the prospective merchant doesn't accept layaway, you can create your own layaway account at the bank and call it some...

Yes, very similar to the 2nd gentleman from the left, but with the sleeve elbow length at the top.
Is this a French-only style? I thought sleeveless surcoats were the norm during that time period

Dating a surcoat
I have noticed several people wearing a specific type of surcoat. It is loose, belted, knee length with even looser sleeves that are elbow length but often hang much lower on one side. The hem and sleeves are almost always dagged. Am I looking at a surcoat from a specific time and/or place (and if s...

Follow the leader: two people cross swords at the tips. One holds his arm steady and moves his feet and the other tries to keep the tips just barely crossed through a combination of footwork and minimal arm motion.

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong. In theory, someone could wear them a block of iron and never lose another bout again because they would never, ever feel a good shot. Or, in my case, he warns his opponent before each and every bout that his leg armor is too thick, he cannot correctly calibrat...
