Re: Polypro is now SCA legal
So, since we now know that Polypro rods explode when you hit something with them... how are they legal at all? Knokes, if you are trying to make a point of any kind, I'm evidently too dense to understand it. Little kids have been fighting with broom handles for generations without getting killed. S...

Having experienced it as a customer, overseas quality control is a real pain. I have a fairly long accounting of my efforts to get a helmet fixed via the Ukraine, here on the archive.

Re: Review of H.H Perkins (rattan)
By far, I buy the bulk of my rattan from Baron Eirik (some of those orders quite large and/or complex), and have never had an issue. In late May he was out of the particular size I needed and told me so. This is only my second time doing business with HH Perkins.

Re: Perfect rattan handle
While there isn't one "best" shape, I do think the SCA has developed certain norms, partially as a result of our equipment and partially because we copy the bad habits of our teachers along with the good. The first sword grip most SCA people experience is usually a 1.25" diameter round stick inside ...

Re: WTB 3D printing (or alternative)
I started hand carving rattan with a drawknife because I couldn't afford a table saw. I only found out the drawknife was the better tool after.
Plus, as I understand it, the expensive part isn't the printer, its the material.

Barony of the Flame practices are Tuesday evenings and 2nd & 4th Sunday of each month.
If you are planning on coming down during a practice, let Sir Vitus or I know and we'll post something on the barony e-mail list just in case anybody else wants anything.

Check your kingdom rules. Some kingdoms have specific rules on what can be on a polearm vs a great sword. For example, most of the two-spike great swords that I have seen didn't have a metal crossguard (or a metal pommel, obviously).

nicely done. something that looks like a weapon (and easy to marshal unlike those retarded sticks with tape called unpadded polearms that look like nothing). regards logan So I'm guessing some Atlantean marshals would have a problem with this? http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5163/5251065120_33e5967d3...
