whitew01f, I was making an attempt at humor. I just don't do it very often and am not very good at it. I've been seeing a lot of this type of posts in the Classifieds, usually the same day that something is posted with incomplete info: "Dibs! What is it?" (or what size, or what price) followed by th...

When I first started carving swords, I would come to Sir Vitus and I would say "Check out this piece of junk! I'm throwing it in the trash." Sir Vitus would look it over and say "I'll trade you some leather for it" or "I'll upgrade that leather to a poleaxe head" or "I'll upgrade that poleaxe head t...

When I was new to the SCA I tried to get a welder to make me some basket hilts. The welder had no interest in the SCA, but he was willing to take my money and give it his best shot. The resulting monstrosities were legal, but so unwieldy that I occasionally had difficulty giving them away... and I h...

What is wrong with starting a new thread? If you are specific in your title ("laurel branch, leaf, wreath in heraldry" vs just "heraldry question") you are more likely to get an educated response than hoping somebody reading my question just happens to know the answer to yours.

First time you grab the weapon by the head and your opponent steps back, you will be glad that butt spike is there - flip out the bottom for a quick one handed jab at his breadbasket or thigh.

The big differences I noticed when I moved from Atlantia to Middle was fewer big shields in the Middle and unpadded polearms (but I believe that may have changed in Atlantia since then, as well).

I'm assuming aluminum, brass or pewter, since those seem to be the most common materials for SCA rattan hardware. As to "why wasn't X tried", I have no clue. I'm not doing the casting, just trying to determine how valid the excuse I received really is. I've only done sand casting of aluminum, back i...
