$40 La Tene prototype hilt (SOLD)

This is Stefan's first attempt at an anthropomorphic La Tene style hilt. Neither Stefan nor I are particularly happy with it, so we are letting it go for $45 (including shipping in the U.S.) despite the time Stefhan put into it. Note: my hand in the picture is a bit on the small side. http://farm6.s...

I don't either. Sharp eyes may notice that I no longer sell my gladii without the stainless guard that protects that little lip between the handle and blade. I've had too many shear off.

Re: How would you fix this helm?

It is ironic that I obtained this helmet to wear at Barony of the Flame's Christmas Tourney today, and I had to work my mundane job so was unable to attend anyway. I received back the helm today. I am uncertain it is the same helm (I swore the helm I mailed was smaller), but the visor does look muc...

Re: THIS is how we recruit

I have never been able to take off a helmet and do the shampoo-commercial-flowing-hair thing but that was nowhere close to the campiest thing I have ever seen on a promotional video. Well done.

Nice armor too, somebody needs to make these guys some nice rattan.

My biggest concern at this point is ripping off the postage on it: $35 to Las Vegas. Due to the length and metal weight in it, the most expensive shipping I've ever paid in the US.

KeggeR

Does anybody know how to contact KeggeR outside of the Archive? He ordered a sword from me and it was completed pending payment in April. He hasn't been on the Archive at all since early May. What is a reasonable amount of time to hold onto something like this? April 26th, 2012: http://farm6.staticf...

A few merchants have 2" rattan, 2.25" is rare and 2.5 is pretty much only available from Baron Eiric and only right after he has unwrapped a newly imported bale.

Remember guys that Stefhan and I both do this in our spare time. Our profit margins on the regular retail price are too low to handle a 35-50% markdown.

Re: Suggestions Wanted re Merchant Accounts

If I understand correctly when you say "merchant" you mean customers that are resellers? I mean anybody willing to make a larger than standard order in order to get a discount, whether they intend to resell it or not. I had a similar offer for my Roman gladii for those willing to buy six at a time ...

Suggestions Wanted re Merchant Accounts

Stefhan and I have been talking about offering merchant discounts for his stuff at foxknife.com ... something along the lines of "order X minimum number of in-stock items from Hessen ironworks and receive $X off per item", but I am a little stuck on what constitutes a good number for a minimum order...

A couple programs you might want to look into are Img2CAD and SolidWorks eDrawings. The first converts line drawings into CAD files. The second lets you view CAD files.

A heavy basket throws your balance away from the line of the sword. Balance the blade with a pommel weight instead.

Re: Basket Hilt for Rattan stick

I have no objection to plastic per se. I own a Baldar hilt that I purchased under the assumption that what is popular must be good. This assumption has kept WalMart successful. I even prettied it up so it doesn't look too bad. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2798/4473989028_beefa5852b_m_d.jpg However,...

The type VIII was often 2" wide at the base of the blade. The blade on the sword in your illustration 34 3/4" long. I think 8" will match much better than 6.
