Since I own a Darkwood basket hilt that I got in trade, my guess would be not.

Re: Foxknife Rattan Waster Picture Gallery

I finally found a pommel plate to go with my rondel guard: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8028/7306876572_6796db39c6_d.jpg Both pieces are three inch diameter galvanized steel. The guard is a touch over 1/8" thick with a center hole a touch under 1 3/8" diameter. The pommel plate is half as thick wit...

That was from Eldric von Atzinger, and I don't believe he sells carved wasters anymore either.

Who sells shaped rattan swords?

Can anybody recommend anybody else who carves rattan into more than flat planks and sells their work? I know three individuals on the Archive who carve their own stuff, but nobody else who does it commercially. I found a website devoted to carved wasters (waffenworks), but didn't get a reply to my i...

Re: Authorization expectations.

This first thing to realize is how different the rules and expectations are between kingdoms.

For example, in some kingdoms once you are an authorized fighter, you are authorized. Boy, I'm guessing you are in a kingdom with separate authorizations for certain weapon forms. Which kingdom?

Given what I saw - it's not so bad. It's very very fun. But in this more fun than a serious sport. Great fun for kids, beginners or those who see the armor for the first time. For those, who want get fun, not injured. For those who want to come to the festival the whole family and relax. Steel it i...

What is the testing process? As I understand it, the current testing process is the KEM or whomever he has appointed for the task (Marshal for Experimental Weeapons, etc) announces that something is available for testing, then whomever feels like it tries the item out and reports back to that person...

Re: Opinions wanted on my proposed arms

Hurry up and register this thing before somebody else does register something that could conflict - like a rampant white goat with a gold collar (or it a belt?) on plain red. I know a certain knight who never bothered to register his device years ago on the assumption something so simple couldn't pa...

Your main potential conflicts are either a white rampant horse on another color field or a single white "something" on a per chevron red and black field. ... I'm not finding either of those things already registered anywhere.

A rattan shortage means more than the availability of rattan goes down, it also affects the quality.

Switching between the Hessen 6 oz ball pommel on the gold-taped mace (above) and the Hessen 8 oz simple pommel on the silver one (below) had a massive effect on the balance.

Re: Rattan shortage is here

The shortage has been coming for quite a while. It is neither a new or sudden thing. Talk to anybody active in the SCA in the 70's and they will all know a guy who had a six inch piece of rattan and did such-and-such with it. Today, four inch pieces can't be found and three inch is horribly rare. Fo...

Last one is gone. I'm going to knock out some other things (like some patient people waiting for custom orders) before I start on another batch. I may change my mind if I get enough pre-orders.
