Used a proper beverly b-2, and while good for straight cuts, warps the metal and is somewhat difficult on curves. Actually, in this particular style of helm, an "inner placed" cap plate would be easier than in a traditional barrel helm... at least for me. On this helm style, the crown plate is larger at the top than at the bottom. The cap plate would set down in the opening and not fall out... a problem which v...

I've made 2 of the helm you're now making... but on mine, I made the edge of the cap external instead of internal. In that respect it was no harder than a normal barrel helm.

Internally attached caps are a royal pain in the ass! (been there, done that, hated it every time!!!)
