the bowl/top front to back measures 9.25 inches
the side to side measurement is 7.75 inches

Personally, I'd say it should fit a 22-23 inch head but not much larger unless you like it really snug.

Well, the cuff is fine... plain but fine... and I've done the articulated wristplate attached under the cuff before but I've never been happy with my articulation.

Actually, I've never been that good at articulation... that's why I've never made a lot of let armor and such.

Just for reference, so there's no misunderstanding... I've always thought my half gauntlets looked like ass.

I've never found a pattern that I liked for them and have never taken the development time needed to create one from scratch.

OK, here's my current notion of half gauntlets for SCA use. To tell you the truth, I'm not thrilled with the design, but they are functional and due to the overlapping plates, they're quite protective.

Sizes are as follows:

measuring a bare neck,

small = 14-15.5 inch neck
medium = 16-17.5 inch neck
large = 18-20 inch neck

width at the side is approx. 2 inches. I can whip up special sized ones if needed, they don't take long.

It's a tiny bit slower, but a vinegar soak of the hot rolled will remove the gray coating... then you can sand it nice and not have the grind marks.

Question: Are you using hot rolled steel and grinding the gray coating off and that's why all the grind marks?
