Changing Norse helm style

I've decided to change the norse styled helm on my website to something a bit more historically accurate. This one is a slat backed helm with brass overlay on the nasal.

Good change or bad? (the old one is pictured on my site)

Tiny Spangenhelm for Sale

I have an extra helm on my hands just now... so I'm gonna sell it at a discount. It's a celtic styled (6th cent romano-british cavalry helm) made for a very small person in the 19-20 inch head size area. I'm asking $150... they normally go for 230. Let's see... it's a slat-backed helm, made of 14 ga...

I survived just fine... last night we finally got power back... I've been on holiday since last Saturday what with no power... and the storm... and trees falling down and all. Most of the schools 'round here are out all week. It's cool though, finally got in a normalish workday today... finally got ...

Well, setting on the shelf, it appears to be about 1 foot from top to bottom... or measured at the side where it would sit on the shoulder, about 10.5 - 11 inches. They're modestly tall, but not overly so.

Mike, do you do spring shield bosses? Seems like a shield boss a) takes alot of abuse b) lives out on the arm where weight is critical c) you could fit a number of them in the kiln at once... If you don't already do them, I'd think there'd be a market for spring bosses and that you're pretty well se...

Regarding your friend putting together a kit... I have a 24 inch or maybe 24.25 head and I can get these helmets on with room for about a 1/2 inch of padding on all sides... which I personally never thought was enough. If your friend has a 23.5 inch head, he could definitely wear one of these helms ...

I'll let them go for $175 a piece (plus shipping)... which is $50 below normal price. :D

Maille work as in aventails and such... well... I have attached aventails to helms in the past (my own helms anyway)... but I'm far from an expert on that kind of work. For a modest fee (I'm guessing $25), I could do it... if the chainmail was provided... and it'd be a bit of an amateurish job and a...

The tops are 12 gauge mild steel from Ironmonger which are assembled with a very high quality weld down the center.

The bottom half is 14 gauge mild steel done in strictly rivetted construction with 1/4 inch zinc plated steel bars. The bottom half of the helm is rivetted to the top, no welds.

In this case, no, I'm sorry... this one is sized to fit a 22-23 inch head. That would be too tight a fit for your friend.

Of course, I could turn out a brand new helm for him in less than a week if he'd like to order one. I'm fairly quick that way.

Celtic styled spangenhelm for sale

From Otto's Armoury, I've got another celtic styled spangenhelm. Specifically, it's styled after a 6th cent. romano-british cavalry helm. It's a slat-backed helm just like the one seen on my webpage. I'll see if I can't get a picture up tomorrow. I'm not used to this computer or the camera I have av...

No, the bargrill isn't aluminum... nor is the helm. The helm is 14 ga. cold rolled steel and the grill is zinc plated steel rod... keeps them from rusting and all.

Hi Eric... thanks for the compliments. I hope all is going well with your armoury as well. Mainly I do the rivetted grills as that's what I'm better at and can keep a better appearance that way.
