LOL I'll be nice and refrain from further comment. Poor moderator LOL! Brother Johnathan You have shown me a great deal of respect over the years. I would kindly remind you of your earlier comment about refraining and ask you to honor it, regardless of provocation. This discussion is no longer seem...

KSCA all the way. Remember it. I don't get what you are trying to say with this statement - could you clarify it? It means what it says. I am KSCA and when it comes to discussing chivalry in the SCA I actually have a clue about it and people should remember that. Let me give you something to chew o...

We have a local historic re-enactment group here in Columbus, and a numbe of them also do SCA becuase it allows them to try stuff they can't really do in their group - specifically, the combat. They've also remarked that the size and scope of the SCA give sit a different 'vibe' even among those who...

What that CA isn't a chivalric combat style? Please get real. Tell me what is chivalric about it. Don't give any opinion now, we need cold hard documentable facts about how it is chivalrous so that everyone can understand it. Also explain how missile weaponry isn't taking a sought after range advant...

You guys take things far to personally and then decide to throw personal insults in return. I forgive you. I've done it too. I always do think it's funny that people get all hurt and insulted that I want people to do things in a more chivalric manner and in a way that is more fun for the entire grou...

I just wish they were playing the same game as the rest of the fighters. Clearly there is a massive difference in game play between shooting bows and the clash of swords. In a true period setting yes they very much belong on the same field but in a sporting chivalric contest? Well there's your prob...

Does not mean i and other like me will stop opposing it, or that we will stop hoping that people will put down these unchivalrous tools of murder and assassination and join the rest of us in heroic melee combat. Like 4 on one combat, death from behind and dead on the ground? . I like the way you po...

You mean recreating the medieval ages as they should have been? Yeah, I've read the quote in the several sources it was in. The Knowne World handbook was one of the first thing I got in 1986 when I was a LARP geek, and again when I joined the SCA in 1993 to have a historical outlet and get away fro...

Nope. I was raised in the environment. I know what's up. I know the changes that have occured and I find it unfortunate for what was always supposed to be a polite society where kids had a place where they could learn to be something better than what todays modern society lays out for them. There we...

Sometimes I think we lose sight of the truth that while all SCA fighters should strive to be worth of the code of chivalry, most of us will never become members of the chivalry. To say simply that all of our activities must only be activities of a knight is to leave out a great many people who want...

Sharing the experience of battle under the wing of my most trusted protector. Standing against those who came to our land to defeat us in a struggle of warriors clashing with the very real threat of facing bodily harm should we falter. Putting the pain to those who stood against us in those brief mo...

Make him hit the right spot on the pel a billion times so that he can learn where to target and how to throw it without the nervousness of defending himself. Make him do that until he doesn't hit low anymore. He will be able to see where he is hitting and adjust accordingly without the issue of bash...

the wording states helm (full), not helmet (small, cap). either way why dont those who presume a skull cap also take a much lighter sword strike if its below the brow then? i think i got all the things i wanted to respond to....... for now..... regards logan Dude we do. That and I think that peoples concept of stout varies widely depending on who you ask. I've never called a face shot light before. A graze perhaps but not anything that made direct contact with my face. Those I take because it's dumb for me to get hit there. I figure I screwed up when I do so I dese...

Well if you have read the rest of what I mentioned previously we don't require stout thrusts. We just don't bitch when they are.

Re: Touch kills, face thrusts and fiberglass rods
Yeah it does. Several people here have stated that a spear jammed in their eyesocket would only piss them off, "in real life", not disable or kill them. LOL I'd be really pissed off if I had a spear jammed in my eye. Really pissed off and really dead. I suggest that people try using a sha...

Is that CA bashing? A little sensative are we? Not me. Got no dog in this fight. I just suggested that the CA comparison may have been what caused DeCalmont to comment as he did. Understood but just because I mention it doesn't mean I bashed it. This time I didn't. I'm not pretending that I haven't...
